    frustrated with 2nd hand buyers

Hi Guys, 3 years ago I bought my first DSLR, second-hand, in Singapore, a 350D. I did all my negotiations through ClubSNAP pms. The deal went perfectly. I thought that I got a very good deal and the seller was happy with the price. Thanks ClubSNAP I later tried to buy an ultra-wide lens and...

    A850 Street Price...

For me, and I am sure many others, one of the most important features of Clubsnap is being able to find out equipment prices and the cheap places to buy it. In 5 weeks time I shall buy a new full-frame camera and two lenses. Where I purchase will be determined by Clubsnap and PhotoMalaysia. It...

    A850: More details...

    > "I would do exactly that if I were you, wait for the new sensor to appear on FF" I have convinced myself that the A850 is a simple case of Sony off-loading surplus A900 components before bringing out a fantastic FF camera with Exmor-R and other up to date features. I have not read, nor can...

Sony launches DSLR-A850 full-frame digital SLR out 09 Sept

My favouring a Sony FF over Canon was significantly influenced by this article. http://www.luminous-landscape.com/essays/antarctica-2009-worked.shtml About 2/3 of the way down there is a summary of camera failures. It will delight you Sony owners. I can not remember where I saw a reference...

    Orient Photo

I was their first customer. I bought a Sigma 10-20mm lens. It was far cheaper than anywhere else. With a few hours it developed a fault. I took it back and they replaced it without any hassle. I went back a year later and bought a Sigma 8mm lens, at an attractive price. I think it a...

Sony launches DSLR-A850 full-frame digital SLR out 09 Sept

I am now waiting for Tokina to bring out an Alpha mount 10-17mm fisheye then I shall buy and modify it. I would hate to find that the A850 only worked in cropped sensor mode with it. If Tokina don't bring out an Alpha 10-17mm I shall buy a Canon FF. I can wait 2 months, then I shall buy in KL...

Sony launches DSLR-A850 full-frame digital SLR out 09 Sept

"A900 has crop sensor mode" Does the camera crop the picture automatically for an APS-C lens? Can it be switched off? I anticipate buying an A850 and using a modified APS-C lens on it but I want to use the whole sensor, not just the cropped area.

    A850: More details...

The A850 is so similar to the A900 if Sony doesn't bring out a new flagship product the A900 will die. So what else do they have in the pipeline? Will we soon see an A950 with Exmor-R, & video?

I am not sure if this applies to all APS-C lenses. Initially I read that the rear element of some APS-C lenses protrudes deeper into the body and might foul the mirror, which is a bit scary. Whether this is true or not, I don't know. It might be a marketting ploy to get people to buy new...

    > . . . . so why didn't u go wild with ur 3.2mp camera . . . Here is a shot I took with my 5 year old 3.1 megapixel camera a few days ago. There's not much difference between that and a standard shot with a 450D...

The latest on A800/850 Full Frame

Hi Guys, I do not expect to replace my current Canon system until I head out east for the winter in Oct/Nov, but my current target is a Sony A900, or better still a cheaper lower spec. FF replacement, with a yet to be announced Tokina 10-17mm fisheye. I had expected to buy it in Singapore but...

sony alpha prices are the cheapest now ...

Hi Guys, A couple of weeks ago I sent a message saying how amazingly cheap the A900 was in UK, (£1.659, S$3,691, incl. 15% tax); it has now shot up to £1,899.99, (S$4,228, incl 15% tax). I thought that it was too good to last :-( Pete
