Hi Guys,

I do not expect to replace my current Canon system until I head out east for the winter in Oct/Nov, but my current target is a Sony A900, or better still a cheaper lower spec. FF replacement, with a yet to be announced Tokina 10-17mm fisheye. I had expected to buy it in Singapore but it seems that KL, or Penang, where I expect to spend the UK winter, is cheaper.

Can anyone give me an update on Sony FF & Tokina 10-17mm ?

Cheers,

Pete

We have as much information as you do... which is to say, it's all rumors, and we're not sure yet if there will be a cheaper FF.

May I ask why you decided to replace your canon system?

Primarily because I want a Full Frame camera. I'll not go though all of the discussion on the advantages/disadvantages of FF but if you are interested read this article, it is very good. http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/full-frame-advantage.htm

In the old days of film I used a 6x6 system and find the larger the film the sharper the image. Not only that, my 350D has probably done well over 40,000 shots and at some point might start to devlop a few faults.

Well... What's wrong with the Canon 5D or 5DMkII? (other than the stuff we already know...)

I mean, I'd be happy for you to hop on the Sony camp, but I'd be concerned about your lens investments.
