A77: What gives?

just to remind everybody the TS is asking for A77 this is not 5n vs A77 =).

peace and enjoy your cam whatever brand model it is.

That doesnt mean i need to sell away my A77 because my 5N performs better at studio shots of dpreview.

In my own observation, its not that significant up till iso1600 esp i normally shoot jpegs.

Sensor noise is not the only equation to a good picture. AF, handling, lenses lineup all can make up for that little difference in iso performance except for one who really shoots at iso3200 and above all the time.

But then with flashgun and fast primes, i seldom go past iso800 cos no matter how good iso3200 or 6400 is (even with D3S), it will never be better looking than a lower iso ones.

I always thought in order to get a good picture, we must know how to control light and not be limited by sensor technology.
Sorry to burst your bubble but let say you are shooting at ISO400, D3s at ISO6400 still looks better.. i rest my case.. I am not going to push it anymore as picture speaks a thousand words.. happy shooting

I am saying the iso400 of d3s compare to its own iso6400.

To be honest, other than extreme sports shooter who needs high iso, i never seen a photographer (even with d3s) wacking iso6400 all the way without a flashgun.

But unfortunately I cannot afford the D3S even if its IQ at ISO6400 is better than A77 at ISO400.

And can I ask you how much is D3?

Some news from SAR.

Another “source” sent me this: “I was informed by person from SONY. Both camera was designed with special Bionz processor, but before releasing they put some better and new one processor inside camera and that make the problem. That is why they are going to release 2.0. It should work perfectly. Lets hope.”
If the rumors coming from asian websites are correct version 2.0 should be out in early November!

i think you are missing my point, read post #13 on page one.
in fact you dont even need to go too far off.. A55 already looks better than A77 at ISO400..

lets not all be so critical come to think you guys are Sony users 5N ISO and noise control is already a fact sensor and processor is a very well develop and establish. A77/A65 sensor is new and pack 24MP to APS-C sized sensor. Anyways when I look at the studio shots i normally look at JPEG coz that's the file I always use. Even I shoot RAW I still convert it to jpeg. Looking at the screen shot below at ISO6400 5n is not that far from A77 whilst the A55 well just look the pix =)

Yup, I really wonder why people nowadays can give their perspective on certain products or issues just based on other people's review or comments and not having the actual thing to test out.

Anyway, I already gave my personal experience as an normal user on overall package to the TS, not as a "so called professional" who pixel peeps at 100% on high iso all the time.

Bro.. do you think they would think the A900 replacement would be a SLT?

they might release a traditional DSLR and maybe FF SLT... see how A900 is stop production so they might bring in FF body

to me I could only compare it to A33 so all my comments are only against my experience with A33 and A77 cant comment about other models as I dont have them seen the 5n in action and it does a great job in the noise control. Anyways lets not anymore de-rail this thread =)

cheers!

Both Nikon & Canon had come out with their version of "SLT" SLR during the film days but had long discontinue them. Personally I would like to see Sony come out with the FF SLT, and offer some unique features that only SLT can offer.

I have seen many (me included)... when you need it... it good to know you can use it.

http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/ready-lights-action/980858-beerfest-asia-2011-anson-photography.html -> Nearly all the stage shot were taken at ISO 6400.

I have no issues about people who shoot high ISO most of the time. It's just that probably A77 is not suited in that case if really need ISO6400 and above. However, with small prints and websharing purpose, most cameras nowadays with newer CMOS technology are able to produce usable shots as well.

Well done to your shoots, looks very clean and nice timing on those captures as well.

As an A55 user, I was pretty certain the A77 was going to be my next cam. Now I’m not so sure.

DPREVIEW talks about mushy JPEGs, high noise and laggy operation - not exactly a rave review for such an expensive piece of kit. A couple of posts on this site talk about under exposure in low light. I’ve even noticed a bro selling his on the buy and sell as they were unhappy with it. What gives?

TS has an A55 and has concerns about DPreview's test on the A77 IQ which I've proved in every bit that his concerns is valid by showing proves so how is that bashing or off topic?

I've also explained that shooting RAW is the best option as OOC jpeg from A77 gave worst IQ due to the higher NR so here is your prove based on your previous post.

To TS, if your main concern is on IQ, there is not much of an upgrade comparing to your A55. However, ergonomic, function wise, A77 is definitely worth every bit of an upgrade so you just have to weigh your priorities..
