i own and use Macs at home and work, but i run both OSX and WinXP.

so i voted "Mac" hehe since it's more a hardware thing

Are you saying that Mac can run WinXp.

I am a Mac user since Day 1...

if you are running an Intel-based Mac, the answer is yes. Apple has provided a handy utility (Boot Camp) that assists you in partitioning and installing Windows on your Mac. (so far only XP and Vista are supported)

but if you are running G5 and below, you can only install via emulation software.

Interesting figures. Same number of Mac and PC users

I've had to work on Windows machines and that's the main reason I wouldn't want to have one.

I use a Mac mainly because of the precision and the ease of use in getting things done. If I want to play games or fight with a machine, I'll use the Windows box that was dumped on me. ;)

When my Mac was in for repair the other day, I was trying to use the Windows machine to look at some photos someone sent me. I couldn't believe how horrible they looked. Then, I got my Mac back and noticed that they weren't as bad. It was just Windows being Windows.

i've been using mac for a few months ever since i bought it.

not bad at all.but prob is i still prefer to turn on my pc instead.:)

I'd say that both system have their pros and cons, sometimes it is also a matter of which one we are used to getting our work done.

For me, being a hard core Mac user since day 1, i just can't get used to using Windows, which just feels wierd to me. When I was in the SAF and had to use Windows, I'd usually used it to access whatever information I needed, and the OA system. Other than that, I'd work on a Mac loaned from the SCO, get it converted to Word files, and then loaded it up and sent it people who needs to see it.

Even in my own office, I use my own Mac laptop, and when I need access to the office server, my assistant will help me pull files for me to see. Internet helped me bridge the Mac and PC divide, as now I can use emails and MSN to communicate with colleagues. Even better still, now that I bought my MBP, I just need to switch to Windows XP whenever I need to access the company server.

I'm sure Windows users will feel the same way as I do, if they are to be thrown into a primarily Mac environment, they'll also feel like a fish out of the water.

Haha, but this ain't gonna happen anytime soon...:)

I prefer Window OS.
Find it more user friendly and simple..

But for graphic design, mac is a preferable choice..

Haha, that's what i said about the Mac OS!!! :)

It all boils down to which OS you are used to la.

Windows is simple???

I find that there are too many things in Windows that confused me... maybe I am not good in IT... sometime finding to change some settings also dunno where to find...

Hmm.... Simple as in when you go to school, go to work, even when serving NS and even in LAN shops, all you see is Window OS.

Even those days in secondary school where they started giving basic computer classes, they're all Window OS.

So generally people have been using Window OS for a long time and get used to it, that's why I say it's simple.
Maybe it's about getting use to it.

My sister have been using Mac OS for the past 3 years?
But she always say that Window OS is still a better OS.

I'm not sure how true is it though.
All I know is if you wanna game, choose Window OS.

Games, games, games....sheesh...it seems that people buy computers primarily to play games????

I often overhear so frequently that when youngsters these days go shopping for a computer, the first thing they usually ask would be how the performance of the machine stack up to certain games.

Don't ask me what games they are, cos nearly 20 years in the Mac wilderness and I haven't got a clue....

There's a equal number of Mac users here because Mac is the preferred choice for creative tasks. So, I'm not surprised.

If you poll the general public, not at a photography forum, the number of PC users would greatly outnumber the Mac. I don't think it's because a PC is better than a Mac.... but a PC is definitely cheaper.

just curious how many of you are pc or mac users

Missing two options. Both and none :)

Most hours spent using a Linux based desktop, followed by Windows then Mac depending on what application/system I need to support. So the two option, one choice survey isn't able to capture my vote.

I think you are right!!!

That's it!!!

I have been using Windows for years yet when I come to something I need to find, sometimes I can't find and get frustrated...but for mac (which I use rarely), I find it pretty easier to find things I want... the things seem to be better design and organised in Mac.... even though I haven't been using mac for long but to find something it's very natural and straight forward... I need not go through years of using mac and can use immediately... for Windows, often I have to ask my classmates where and how certain things are done...

Just switched to a pure Mac environment months ago when I bought the Mac Pro. I've a Mac Mini also, for 2 years.

They are really worth right down the the single cent. People who say Macs are more expensive don't understand the value of using a Mac. It's not about whether an item is expensive or not when you buy it, it's about whether it's valuable to you or not.

Do you find it easy to add a printer? It's much more difficult and confusing with Mac OS X than the old Mac OS but I think Windows XP is very good even though Windows NT/2000/98 were difficult and confusing.
