Nice orange flower. Real or fake one? You into flower shots? Try Botanic Gardens and Gardens by the Bay. Besides varieties, they have good angles to grab nice shots.

Think fake. Keke. Good places to take flower shots wif d FE 55

The 500mm reflex lens works very well with A99 with built in OSS. Can hand hold and take good shots. But with A7/R without OSS, every shots need to be on tripod.

But still, it is a good lens for decent IQ for a super zoom.

this was done hand held actually. .I usually dont bring tripod out.. that would defeat the purpose of a light camera setup..just had to use a much higher shutter speed.

Roy. Wun it b front heavy in d first place? I presume it is a big n heavy lens. Handheld is quite challenging. Haha. Watz d shutter speed of d shot?

I have not owned a Mirror Lens but I believed and heard from other Mirror lens are not heavy at all since the elements design is very simple and has very few elements inside. Sample construction of Mirror lens below this the rokkor 500 f8 taken from http://www.rokkorfiles.com/500mm.htm

I have experience in mirror lenses. They are typically lighter for a reason. Good reach with shorter/lighter lens, with sacrifices on image quality.

Not that they are bad, as I also own a Minolta 500mm before, which is a very good lens. Just that they require good light as compared to a usual zoom lens (F8), and they produce donuts shape bokeh that some may not like it.

Hi All
I have the A7R with the FE 35mm. Over Chinese New Year shot using this new camera set up in Neutral and found serious colour casting of magenta/purple over all my indoor shots. Needing me to change the hue in PS. Is there a workaround in camera? Would it be better if set in Standard or other?

Hi Buddy,

Can you post some samples to know how bad is it?

I don't have this issue when I have my 35FE with A7R, but now only using 55FE.

No it's not heavy...it's only 600g so it's pretty balanced on the camera.
And yes, it's only fixed f8 an the bokeh is horrible BUT i don't think i'l want to use a 500mm to get bokeh..the point is to get really up close like i did with the rhino face. the shutter speed was 1/500...

I bought this wonderful zoom with my Nex 7. That was the only reason why I bought the LA-EA2 adapter then.

Sold it later on as I realised that it was a short impulsive session as not really into birding or wildlife shooting. Kept the lens in drybox for quite a while before deciding to let go.

500mm is a good reach. But it is too near if you don't have specific needs like birding or wildlife. A very specialised lens for users who have specific needs.

It will be even better if used on a body with OSS, as you need really steady hands/posture if handheld.

Here is a screen shot of the folder with the jpg in camera uploaded and the RAW files adjusted. I think the colourcast can be seen clearly.
Those not having colour casting, what settings are you using? BTW i read somewhere that the colour casting is mostly seen in the 35mm and not in the 55mm.
