hehe i shall take the liberty to create this thread in CS.

first few images shared will be of the unboxing and images of the A7, and will follow-up with images from the legacy lenses i have.

A7 together with the pwp battery and sony 32 gb SD card. unfortunately the SD card is only the 40mb/s read speed version instead of the higher speed ones used in the sony TCC handson sessions.

first impression of the camera. (actually not first since hands on at sony TCC alrdy)

nice, solid and weighty when being held. you can't really tell that the front piece on the A7 is plastic vs the magnesium alloy of the A7r.

however, the rear casing isn't as well put together. both A7/R share the same plastic rear case that holds the lcd enclosure etc. The bottom part of the rear piece is pretty thin plastic, and you can actually hear a squeaking plastic sound as you apply some pressure on the bottom. looks like the gariz case will be a good addition as the bottom plate of that case is metal.

image of the bottom of the A7. plasticky portion is the rear bottom facing the lcd screen, especially obvious near the tripod mount

a few test shots for bokeh at mfd before i go out for dinner.

quick resize using infranview due to lack of time, so image compression isnt that good

ISO 5000 using Pentax FA77 F1.8 lens. Colors are still quite vibrant at ISO 5000.

Was a bit underexposed, so I lifted the shadows to test the malleability of the JPEG. Not bad...

Hi

ok here are some real life test images made after I got the A7 with the kit zoom. My real motive for the A7 was to pair it with my existing M mount lenses as a complement to my M9, but since I don't have any M to Nex adapter yet, I'll have to try out the camera with the kit zoom first.... I shot these with very little residue battery power after I bought the camera in the evening (though I did plug it into my laptop for a quick charge of about 25mins...).

All images are JPG. I did shoot a RAW with JPG but I have no way to convert the RAW at the moment.

Pictures are mostly unprocessed, though there were a few where I lifted the exposure using Lightroom 5. (particular those in my house with my dog, where the pics were a little underexposed)

They asked me to help take a photo with their iPhone. After that I asked if I can try out my new camera, which they gamely obliged.

More samples....

the kit zoom can indeed be slow to focus at times, like what the initial reports said.

Orchard central has an amazingly display. I would vote it for best dressed building this xmas.

Trying to gauge dynamic range... but of course need to look at the raw again once i can convert them....

She's getting bored of me not playing with her......

That's all for tonight i guess. If you guys want to see a bit more samples, you can find the full sample set at my Flickr

I never shoot with ISO more than 1000 in the past with all my cams because I was never happy with the result. For this one, i tried ISO3200, F2, 1/500, 90mm, cropped, I am satisfied with it.

some images from this morning and lunch time
all with the cv 15 at F8/11. still can see some purple corner but not too bad. some blur on the last image probably from slight movement while using the auto hdr function.

Picked up my cam and immediately tried this combi. So far seems to work fine with expected vignetting at f2.5.

Using this combi feels a lot like shooting with my old Nikon FE x my Rangefinder x Digital : D

I think I missed out on something here....... i remembered this thread used to be longer :p

Anyway, here's a pic, shot with the A7 and the CV 50mm f1.5 ASPH II M Mount version (finally got a Voigtlander adapter), and uploaded direct to Flickr and Facebook using the Sony play memories app thingy without the use of a computer or smart phone. Really amazing - I feel I have bought a computer with full fledged web browsing capabilities along with the camera :p

No editing was done - this was truly direct from camera to Flickr.

If anyone wants to take a look at a bigger size image, here's a Flickr link to a 1616 x 1080 size version.

Can you upload to flickr the full resolution photo? 1616 x 1080 a bit too small to pixel peep. Interested in this lens.

Yeah, the informative part is gone. Maybe we should delete all texts to make it photos only. The texts around the photos are distracting.

Hi

here you go, the 6000 x 4000 JPG....

I hand held this shot, so bear that in mind as u pixel peep to check out the lens :)
Great, thanks! I wish all people would do that. Unfortunately most post on CS in SVGA resolution.
