Its seems like many reviews seems to compare these 2 cameras quite closely. Planning to get my Dslr soon. Any advices?

if lack of vertical grip, slower burst mode (3fps vs 5fps) and lack of high speed flash sync are not major concerns, go for the cheaper D70s.
I think the Canon 20D is long overdue its successor.. Both are good cameras. Also consider Olympus E-500 if budget constraint.

Basically both a great cameras, and you won't regret all that much with either. The Canon 20D "might" be replaced next year (not sure about the D70s), and the Nikon's D200, which will be launched very soon, will provide very close competition (in terms of specs) to the Canon's 20D.
At the end of the day, how to choose depends on:
Your shooting style
Your preferences
Any compatible equipment you have right now
Budget
Reaction to the actual camera itself
If you will regret it upon buying, you probably would anyway, regardless of what advice you heed right now. If you won't, you probably won't, if you choose either of them.

Besides what has already been mentioned, do take time to check out choice of lens and the prices for each of the brands' lenses. At the end of the day, you'll most likely wind up spending more money on the lenses than the body itself.

oh since someone mentioned about lens, what do you guys think bout the difference between nikor and canon lens ? since in the long run, collection of lens would be inevitable. Difference as in price differences, 3rd party supporters, quality. :dunno:

Hear hear. :thumbsup: Sometimes its really off-putting to hear biased comments from this particular bunch of ppl. To me, a camera system is just a tool, a way and means to get the pic you want. No camera system is perfect. You just have to learn the idiosyncracies and live with it. What may be perfect for one person may be bad for another.mpenza said:
To the threadstarter, if you can, borrow both cams from friends and test them out. Go with the one you feel most comfortable with. Ergonomics and ease of use matter a lot too. Both cams can produce outstanding pics, but only if the photographer wills it to.
