Did this at ISO400 for the cloudy effect. If I could add a few bats inside... hehehe :p...

Need more sharpening to bring up the details for #1.

#2 is good with the cloudy effect.

Thanks for the tips ;)!

I'll try tomorrow with CS3 to see if I can make it sharper. I took another one few days before and I was able to bring out some of the details, not sure why today I can't... I'll try and figure out again :).

Btw, here's the one I took few days ago but didn't post it as I was waiting for the full moon.

WOW... real nice capture! Which lens did you use to shoot this? I shot using my 300mm but the details were nowhere compared to yours!

Thanks!

I was using Canon EFS 18-200mm lens for this capture. Zoom all the way out to 200mm for this moon.

Settings as follow:
F-Nummer: F 10.0
Aperature value: F 9.9
Exposure time: 1/60 sec.
Shutter speed value: 1/64 sec.
Focusal length: 200.0 mm
Exposure program: Manual control
ISO speed rate: ISO-100
Metering mode: Multi-Segment

Sharpened to 100% for details at original size in CR2 raw format before converting to JPEG.

I shot mine using F-value at 8 plus high ISO, fast shutter and hand-held...

Maybe next time I'll see what I can come up with by slowing down the shutter time like yours and TRIPOD! LoL
Thanks for sharing!:D

I think you can adjust your F value to drop the contrast so that you can get more details out of the shot.

What photo editing software are you using? For me, I'm using Canon's Digital Photo Pro for raw editing and conversion, then further editing of converted jpeg in either Paint.net (free) or CS3 depending on the kind of picture I'm editing.

Here's another moon which I tried very hard to edit for details due to the cloudy conditions at Yew Tee yesterday night. This is the best I can do liao.

The details not coming out well may be due to my F value settings vs Shutter speed.
F-Nummer: F 5.6
Aperature value: F 5.7
Exposure time: 1/40 sec.
Shutter speed value: 1/42 sec.
Focusal length: 200.0 mm
Exposure program: Manual control
ISO speed rate: ISO-100
Metering mode: Multi-Segment

Yes, tripod is a must for moon shooting though I have tried without tripod and managed to squeeze some ok ones only. My hands will easily get tired while holding on the the long lens after a period of time.

my 2 cents but i think image #1 and #2 can do with some brightening up. Pictures are tack sharp otherwise. Nice!

Thanks for the guidelines, NovJoe:D

I'll keep 'em in mind when I shoot for the moon next time.

Meanwhile, here's a shot of a lalang sunset
