Photography is an art and a form of science. How many people can really understand the basics of this art and science? We, at Stanley Lim Colour Centre (SLCC), noted that there are quite a few enthusiastic people who are passionate about this form of art and a few who are eager to understand the sciences behind it, but did not get a chance to find a person who can assist to open the door to the world of photography.

SLCC is pleased to organize a 4th workshop with emphasis on this group of people on 20 March 2005 (Sunday) at 12pm. The workshop will revolve around the basics of photography and the course content of the basic photography course.

We will be introducing our new instructors of the basic photography course at the same time, who will be replacing our previous instructor who had left us to embark on his future endeavors.

It is a well known fact that SLCC is very student orientated. We have students who had completed their course(s), but still come back to SLCC for future courses, to find answers to certain difficulties they had stumbled upon on photography along the way they found during their professional life or leisure shoots, or just to find the instructor(s) / photographers around here for some coffee. We also take note of the progress of our ex students as and when we can and will offer to assist them if we realised they have some problems with their photographs, even if they do not ask for assistance.

A recent case is a very good example. One of our ex student who had completed a course with SLCC sent her negative to be developed by us. During the printing of her photographs, Joanne found the photographs to be grossly underexposed. When the ex-student returns to collect her photographs, Joanne asked for the reasons why her photographs are underexposed. It was then she found out the ex-student is not very well versed on the relation between exposure, aperture and shutter speed. Upon knowing the cause, Joanne asked another ex-student who is generally well versed with different equipments to accompany the ex student on an outdoor shoot to determine the problems. The problem of the exposure was solved, but then there are also other problems that were found during the outdoor shoot. Joanne then ask the ex-student to make time for a basic refreshment course, at SLCC expenses.

SLCC strongly believes in the motto “Anyone who had attended courses organized by SLCC will get to learn something when he/her completed the course he/her signed up for” ,even if the instructor who had taught the students previously is not around anymore. Arrangement will be made to ensure the student gets to understand the lesson again by arranging it another instructor / photographer to answer the questions.

Note :
This Free Basic Workshop is for Newbie or those who wanted to build up their basic foundation .You may sign up for the free workshop by calling / SMSing Joanne at 98583502 or Weiliang at 97607716. The workshop is only limited to 20 people.

no need to carry your 'precious' around, lah...just come on down to enjoy the workshop and get to know the people who hang around SLCC :bsmilie: We are a friendly bunch.

If you have a sudden urge to hold a camera, we always have cameras on hand for our students  NOKIA called it human technology...SLCC called it the "7-11" technology...always ready to help our students with their photographic needs
