Hmm. how long does it take? cause the program hangs after i drag the drive to the removable drive. don't know if it's usual or not. Thanks anyway.

hmmm may take a while.. abt 3 - 5 min...
heh around there lar..

Haiz, the program goes into 'Not responding' mode whenever I do that. Not just my laptop but my desktop as well. :(

Performance Tips
Notice 5901 : 1x=176kB/s; As some device makers use 1x=150kB/s exercise caution when comparing measured vs. published ratings.
Notice 5008 : To change benchmarks, click Options.
Notice 5004 : Synthetic benchmark. May not tally with 'real-life' performance.
Notice 5006 : Only compare the results with ones obtained using the same version!
Notice 5207 : Consider using the File System Benchmark for non-Flash devices.
Notice 5900 : Endurance factor can only be used on the same type of device (SLC or MLC).
Tip 11 : Use the 'Switch Chart Type' button to switch between Detailed and Combined charts.
Tip 2 : Double-click tip or press Enter while a tip is selected for more information about the tip.

Hmm...

I was trying to verify the results I've gotten earlier. The results may be because of the Card Reader. Maybe I should buy a new card reader.

Any recommendations?

U got the 16mb panasonic SD card? Try running that and see if the result is close to ours. If its close it means the result is accurate. If not its either the card reader or your settings. Also try using the 2mb results as a comparsion since we are using that

Hey I also obtained bad results for KINGMAX PLATINUM 1GB SD CARD.

Supposedly 66x max 10MB/s... and 'til now I am still very satisfied with it.
Guess what I got

TwinMos is good at 4.2MB/s write. Who says mini-SD is slow?
Anybody know why Kingmax so slow? The test for Kingmax took way over 10 minutes.

I tried the packaged Panasonic 16mb SD card on two machines

1. Desktop with USB 2.0 reader - 2x read/write speed (same as the KingMax 66x)

2. notebook with built-in SD reader - 9x read 6x write (same as the kingMax 66x)

So conclusion - maybe it is bottleneck at the reader... not the cards

So Kingmax sux? hmm.. the write performance is very bad. At least you can get 36x.. I'm getting 2x read only on my desktop and 9x on my notebook.
Terrible.

Hey, I don't trust this test. The Kingmax SD Card performed amicably when using FZ5 burst mode. Too bad no .tiff format burst mode, would've been fun :) .

I'm also sketical about the tests.

The tests cannot be right unless everyone uses the standard reader...

Whats a good and cheap multi-format reader out there? any suggestions.

What will happen if we use the camera as the reader? Will it be the same? Notice that the endurance value is very low guess the problem may be that. Maybe it cannot write stably at high speed. Seems like highest read speed here is 44x wonder if anyone will get more

Ermmm personally I feel that unless you FEEL the difference then you should start worrying.

I tried using my FZ5 to test, but it was damn slow. Supposedly DCRP says that FZ5 uses a speed slower than USB2.0, but faster than USB1.1.

So whats the best (and cheap) multi-card reader out there?

USB 2.0, Firewire? ;) Any recommendations? Preferably in the $20-$30 range

Hi sinlg notice that for the Sd card test you got 36x for your Kingmax 1GD and you miniSD. Is it that your card reader only read at 36x max? Maybe you can try looking for a driver update for the reader?

I am using a 19 in 1 card reader, believe the brand is APro9(will go home see).It seems good to me. Its a black reader with furry texture though it look plastic, theres also a short USB cable built in. Got it at ITfair $19, my friend got one at SLS for $21 after looking ard(most going at $27)
Hopes this help

No.. if you see my tests.. I only achieve 9x Read, 6x Write.. very bad. I suspect it may be the card reader bottleneck

$19 is cheap.. is it USB2.0 - is it fast so far? Is it small enough and portable? What format does it support? MS/MS PRO/MS Duo XD/SD/MMC/SM CF CFII

the above only 9 formats.. did I miss any? ;)

Ya maybe you get the same reader as mine then can compare haha :D
The reader is not too big and portable, i always carry it ard. Also the bulit in USB cable mean no need bring wires. It is USB 2.0 and apart from the common cards it also support RS-mmc and all those funny ones. Not too sure abt CF2 since not using it but guess sld be inside. Speed wise think is OK for me, see my result on my Magu 1 GB card got 44x readspeed. When using my Sandisk MS Pro Duo it is even faster than my SD card when previewing pic

By the way DO HOPE more will help run the test . Need more results especially from sandisk.Lexar and Kingston. Really interested to know how they fare. Use to own Sandisk 1GB and it felt quite fast, guess ard 45x-50x write speed. Can anyone with it test the speed?

Correction the brand is A1pro

Maybe I should bring my card to your house to test speed. more consistent.
