Nice butterfly shots ! Did you find the filter thread bit deep in ? I can imagine how a CPL can get very badly stuck.
You should do a section for crop sensor users who want to use it for nature, balance is great on the D7200.
They making this one in China.... ?
Nikons all about saving a dollar, and putting more plastic in their lenses.... sure make them sharper but I really think they going down hill with build quality.
Maybe its a tradeoff to make the lenses even lighter without increasing prices too much.
Yeah but frankly I'd pay 20% more for a 20% increase in build quality.... 10 more years we'll have paper lenses at this rate. :/
I find the only TRUE Quality built lenses now are their Super-tele's (200-600 range) , the 70-200 f2.8 , their tilt shift lenses and thats about it.
OK Rant over........
LOL @ paper lenses. You'd never know man, looking at how the new Batis lenses have OLED screens on the lens body itself. Interesting concept.
Anyway I havent actually tried it out for myself but some people (whether paid off by the OEMs) have mentioned that the plastic construction may absorb shock better than the metal lens bodies.
I am still quite impressed by the build quality of my 85mm f1.8G even though it seems to be plastic all over, and the EF 100mm f2.8L macro too. It could be that they use better quality plastic for these lenses, and I am sure the same goes for the 300mm f4 PF.
Yeah partly agree, my 24 and 85 1.4's are not junk but can't deny its a cheaper way to produce.
And heh I think those Batis is a damn cool concept.... they look ok and hearing they sharp as hell - may lean me towards the A7Mk2 later this year.
Gonna be hard to give up on your existing Nikon options I reckon. I would find it hard to pay so much for Batis 85mm given how much I like the Nikkor!
In the meantime I will patiently wait for the issues with the 300mm to be completely resolved - pricing, supply and VR.

Nice detail in these shots. The iii TC seems like a pretty good combo with the D7200 and 300mm PF.
Image looks quite good for ISO 1250 too.
