you went in early spring izzit? no icy mountains in summer :(

I really don't remember a scene with mountains covered by snow. Mount cook yes, but only one SINGLE BIG mountain :) but mount cook is pretty awesome. The thing about NZ is that it is so SMALL but so BIG mountains... to me lah
End of Autumn and early winter

Wah...very demoralising leh when hear you talk about the mountains there...if only i managed to get the promo ticket for november...

BUT weather is HARD to say. you may get snow. when my father-in-law went to tasmania in summer last year, they encountered SNOWFALL!!! I went in winter this year, nothing.......

Remember I only went like 2 weeks in early Feb 2005. Maybe you can ask a local in NZ or something.... on international forums like dpreview...
