Try this self-standing monopod 682B from Manfrotto. No idea if it's available locally, or if it's a discontinued model, but you could check with CP or any of the other bigger photo stores.
I like the light weight and convinience, but my trip do need a stable
platform occassionally. Are there any simple/easy mechanisms which
can convert a monopod into tripod?
I've tried a Manfrotto monopod with 3 small legs at the end which you can extend them to become a tripod. But not very steady leh.
I'm shooting indoor most of the time. Tripods take out too much room in my small home studio. I am tempted to get a monopod and put the end of it in a Milo tin and pour cement into it for stability.
