sounds like a great idea! I guess thats the only way for me to find out how good OR bad i am!!
So anyone kind enuff to let me work on their photographs??? :embrass:
i am thinking of charging for my DI but is there a market for us actually?
Apart from what firestone has listed another important thing is a strong understanding of colour management for CMYK printing. I would like to find a DI artist who is really anal about every single colour...

they might adjust the print that comes out but I don't know if some of the curmudgeons out there would actually really colour manage... its some extra work for them to profile monitors and, even worse, profile printers... and if we are talking about offset prints ... once I spent half a day getting the printers to adjust the colour from printout to screen, from printout to screen... and that was after waiting for their proofing printer to get fixed :angry:printers are usually not very concern until you make your requirements known to them and expect them to follow thru. Most will grumble but they will try to fulfill neverthelss.
er... Photoshop...Btw anyone answered the question . - what software is use for DI?
I am keen to know as well. =)

Heh heh....that's why over here you gotta push them and tell them to let u approve the proof before they print en-masse.yes maybe I have been too harsh on the DI artist...
my agent is preparing a promo right now (cmyk) and she gets 2-3 proofs to get the colour perfect, over in singapore the printer just tells me "it's about 90% accurate" and then proceeds to provide me magenta skinned people in my pictures.
no, I'm sure there are DI people who have "trouble" with colour... just have to jaga them abit... sometimes its an honest mistake though...yes maybe I have been too harsh on the DI artist...
that magenta is the 10% coming to bite you in the rear end... insist they do a reprint at their expense... like Witness said, where possible approve the colours before they run the actual print...my agent is preparing a promo right now (cmyk) and she gets 2-3 proofs to get the colour perfect, over in singapore the printer just tells me "it's about 90% accurate" and then proceeds to provide me magenta skinned people in my pictures.
the designers i worked with are generally pretty anal abt their work. its the printers that we work with that screw us over.
so why do you work with those printers?
Can you recommend some good printers, I actually think it'll be a good thread to have in this forum, as a resource.
i guess they has given us the best quote and they are the biggest in sgp. :dunno:
we do publishing for mags. i think printing for photos will be quite different i suppose.
