mid range DSLR Canon 50D also using digic 4, same as 500D, so should be good.

as for 1000D, no comments, but if i have a choice, i will take 450D over 1000D anytime.

just got my new 500D woots!

btw if you intend to get it via the PP program
be ready to wait for at least a week
read it off somewhere that 500D is kinda out of stock

I'm still dilemma don't know buying Nikon D5000 or Canon 500D. After hand on this 2 camera .. feel Canon is fit to my small hand and is light suitable for traveling...

Below is some question to ask those already using Canon 500D:
1. Video mode for 500D got any limitation time to record? Or is depend the memory card storage?
2. For Nikon have convenient 19 Scene Modes selection, but how is Canon 500D? It is alos have this feature. Bcoz i'm first for SLR, need more auto setting before I'm slowly go in deep.
3. Price for Canon 500D SGD1299 with kits 18-55. It is expensive? Where can get the lowest price? Funan Alan shop ?
4. Base on sharp, color & quality photo.. which 1 is better. (A bit difficult question, optional for this question to reply. ;-) ...
5. It is every 2 yeasr we need to do alignment or maintenance for the camera. Due to auto focus not accurate...etc...

I'm plan to buy 500D soon after a few week decide what I need between Nikon D5000 & Canon 500D...

Video mode no time limit as far as I know but take note that Full HD takes up 444MB per 15 mins.

Well... 500D has 9 Basic mode but it is comprehensive enough. Not sure why you need 19 for?

$1299 is the promo price so quite standard across the island.

Built in flash is not suitable for most shots as it is directed at the subject and will cause alot of shadows and reflections of the flash. I got the 270ex but kinda regret as I should have gotten the 580EX II as my final upgrade. The 270ex works well in normal situations and should serve you well but if budget is not a concern I would strongly recommed going for the 580EX II.

Is prefer or99.98% to get a filter. Normally hoya will do just fine
whereas cleaning kit is ncessary or the pump with cloth is required as u hope to maintain your camera at good condition.

i've decided to not focus on protecting your gear
but focus on photography
unless i am buying an L lens , i won't go and overly-protect it
anyway
for lens protection
you can get UV or Skyline filters.... the thing is get only , and only the good ones will do, low grade filters will reduce image quality... B+W is a recommended brand among clubsnappers

well i am not getting a dry box/cabinet just as yet..
budget is an issue to me
if you use your camera AT LEAST once a week, there is really no need for a dry cabinet/box
unless you will not be using your camera for prolong periods of time, then it is advised that you buy and use a dry cabinet
moisture level should be kept between 45%~55%... anything higher ... no use... anything lower ... you might damage your gear.. (overly dry conditions will dry up the lubricating oil between small parts of the lens'camera and will damage plastic bodies)
