When they said that, maybe they're comparing the FPS that the camera can make for sports, and resolution/ISO/dynamic range for landscape & portrait. Lens plays a big part but not all. Remember lens and body work together. I will say IQ in FF is better but comes at a bigger cost and weight...

Those factors are not just related to camera body. What lens you use also plays a big part. Most cameras these days are good if operated properly. ;)

can use adaptor. but depending on the adaptor used, usually you will lose something in the process. af, metering, reduce IQ for example.

Image quality in which areas? mega pixels? ISO? dynamic range?..... Maybe this will shed some light

both are good options. Unless u have a superzoom lens like 18-270 which is 28.8-432mm in 35mm, 500d won't be as versatile as compared to tz7's 25-300mm. Quality wise, tz7 is a decent performer if you have the right expection. Tz7 can record up to 1280 x 720 whereas 500d can record 1920 x 1080...

The wedding photographer I knew was using D300, an ultra wide angle zoom, a standard zoom, sb800 throughout the event. He coupled the flash with another slave flash on a portable stand about 1m tall while moving about with the bride and groom in an open air wedding dinner at night. Hope that helps
