tessar is a 4-element lens. the planar has five to seven elements. there are also sonnar, distagon, biogon, variogon etc. due to the small number of elements, tessar lenses are compact in size.

tried both the bronica SQAi and SQB before. both are very easy to use. a user manual is probably unnecessary. like keltzar has said, loading is a breeze. shooting is a breeze too. plus the shutter of both the SQAi and SQB is battery operated, so bring fresh spare batteries with you when shoot.

imho, get a reasonably good one to try. they give better result and are less prone to breakdown (seagulls are good but not lubitels). go for a mid prized rolleiflex TLR or something equivalent. go for a MF SLR like bronica, mamiya if you are willing to spend more for the flexibility that comes...

hi, i'm a new comer to medium format and currently using a hassy 503. trying to figure out the uniqueness of the square format and how to bring out the best in a square format picture. any pointers?

i would recommend the acute matte screen with split rings and micro prism for it versatility for all kinds of work. like neo and nescafe had said, you cannot diy the screen change. the local agent should be able to do it for a small fee (actually the job is no big deal).

wiseguy, agree with dreamseeker. you can arrange with the seller for a trial shoot to assess if the lens are aligned.
