hi guys, after i took a photo with raw files,

how do i pp it? i mean i need to convert it to jpeg first so that i can edit it in photoshop?

by the way, i have photoshop CS4, nikon capture nx and using d90, thanks

How about reading the manual of CaptureNX? The basic workflow will be described there. For further questions about RAW processing please have a look into Digital Darkroom here. Also, do read up about image formats. JPG as a image format with lossy compression should not be used for editing, but only for the final export step.

Properly updated CaptureNX2 (not CaptureNX) will read NEF file directly and allow post processing to be performed before saving the file in edited NEF format or JPEG format.

Properly updated Photoshop CS4 will read NEF file will read NEf file directly and allow post processing before saving file into PSD format or JPEG format.

i read the following link,

i have a few question

should all PP be done in NEF before converting to JPEG?

yes, i believe this is the case.

hmm.... ok... cos i read from the thread, a lot seems to be converting NEF to JPG in capture NX, then pp it in PS.... that is why a bit weird... :dunno:

Stay with NEF or other lossless image formats as long as possible. You can export to TIFF when switching to PS, then come back as TIFF and finish the export into JPG.
