Woah.. u faster than me!

Samir Nasri completes Arsenal move

"I am very happy to become an Arsenal player, it means such a lot to me," Nasri said. "This is a very important step in my life as a football player because Arsenal is a massive club.

"I really hope everything will go well for me here. I will my best for Arsenal and its fans and I am honoured to be part of such a great football club."

I am #1,001 :bsmilie:

They hinting bout getting Hunty... duno if its real or juz a decoy rumour.

But pairing both Hunty & RVP together sounds tantalizing...hehe

I will welcome Eto for Adebaygon anytime plus getting 10 million won't hurt. I know AW playing with Barcelona and will let go when the price is right - aka profit for the club.

Hleb finally left. Flamini and Gilberto too. I hope Ade goes too.

3 midfielders gone. AW would need to bring in some experienced players (Alonso, Barry?) or we would not be a credible force next season.

Is it me of am I the only one enjoying the Ronaldo to Real saga?

Wenger will sign two players in the transfer slit

By Myles Palmer

OK, he's signed two players.
I know he's signed two players.
Arsene signed Nasri and Ramsey.
Two promising kids.
Vela is back from loan.
Make that three promising kids.

I've realised that this summer's transfer window is a misnomer.

It's not a window. In my scheme of things, a window is quite a big thing. You can open your curtains and see a lot. You can open the window and let in fresh air, pets, flatmates, neighbours, takeaway deliveries, birds, wasps, burglars. You can let the world in through a window

Unfortunately, this is not a window. It's too small to be called a window.

To me it's more like a letter box. I'd call it a slit.

That's the bad news. The transfer window is really just a little slit, a few days at the end of August. The deals you've been reading about all through June and July will probably happened after August 11.

I still think Arsene will sign two experienced players in the transfer slit. He's playing a waiting game to save money. He'll wait till prices drop.

Saving money is what Arsenal FC is all about. Saving money is in Arsenal's DNA. They sold Liam Brady and didn't replace him. They sold Frank Stapleton two years later and didn't replace him. The directors decided that, with Liverpool at their peak, they could spend a lot of money and still not win the title, so they decided to make sure they didn't win the title by not spending and not competing.

In those days you had to win the title. You had to be champions to play in the European Cup.

torres is enjoying his time in epl, i dont see him moving to Real anytime soon. besides it would take a monster bid to take him to Real. i believe chelsea got more spending power than Real...

Yeah, thats why I say next season then Real will come for him... :bsmilie:

I dun think Liverpool will sell to Chelsea.. I cannot imagine the fans reaction.. (*thinking of WWIII)

i think Real is better off buying david villa instead.

Real Madrid and Holland midfielder Wesley Sneijder has said the Spanish champions do not need Cristiano Ronaldo as he will "disrupt" the squad. He also accused the Portuguese winger of going missing in big games and said his wages will cause a dressing room revolt at the Bernabeu. (Various)

No matter what the players say.. the marketing department will over rule them ;)

Oh no, Milan signed Ronaldinho. Who would take Adebayor off our hands now? :(

maybe barca ?
feels like barca is becoming a second arsenal over in spain....:bsmilie:
hope we don't have to up the wages for a one season wonder....

I hope so too, but noticed that this season the transfer activity is quite tame in comparison to previous season.

Subprime crisis? Credit crunch? No joke, but I think its starting to affect the clubs (except chelsea).

Frankly looking at our squad now, I don't have high expectations for the new season, but I will gladly be humbled by AW defying the odds to prove me wrong

We really need a big strong guy in the middle (Yaya?) to put in the crunching no nonsense tackles.

Rumours about Alonso I hope is really just rumours. He is a good player, but he is not what Arsenal needs now imho.

AW would sign some players soon, but being Arsenal FC, the club will do things in secret like Sagary's signing

I just system choose for me. Later then I come in and 'refine' the selection :)

Come on you gooners! show me what u got! :bsmilie:

Liverpool signed Keane, and so far no news on any Arsenal signings.

The team did thrash a pub team 10-2 though :p

Why William Gallas should remain as Arsenal captain

By Myles Palmer

He is their best defender.
He is their most experienced defender.
He wants the job.

And there are no other candidates.

Fabregas is 22 and has enough to do, enough to think about, leading a young team which has won nothing. He is being groomed for the job but it's still too soon to give it to him.

Yes, Ray Wilkins was captain Chelsea at 18 but that was in another century. Football was a sport then. Now it's a business.

Fabregas will be a good captain for Arsenal. And in 2026 he will be a good manager for Arsenal. He'll be 40 then.

Kolo Toure likes being the No.2 man at the back. Playing with Sol Campbell, he was very good. Playing with Senderos, he wasn't.

Kolo is a terrific character who has become an Arsenal stalwart in the same way that Lee Dixon and Ray Parlour were Arsenal stalwarts. He is reliable and always gives 100% and the fans love that.

But as captain in the Carling Cup Final against Chelsea, Kolo Toure let the team down badly. He panicked and lost his head and that 2-1 defeat ended with a brawl and three red cards. And Kolo, having worn the armband that day, felt that failure very deeply. He felt that responsibility very deeply.

A year ago, Arsene did not choose Kolo Toure as captain. If he was not the man for the job in 2007, I don't see how he can be the right choice in August 2008.

OK, William Gallas was slaughtered for what he did in the last minute at Birmingham. No Arsenal captain had ever walked down the other end of the pitch and turned his back when a penalty was given against the team. If Almunia parries the penalty kick, Gallas should be there clearing the ball or blocking the second shot. We know that.

When Clichy’s mistake gave referee Mike Dean the chance to make a mistake, Gallas over-reacted because he saw seven months work go down the toilet in one moment. He knew Arsenal had blown it. He knew they had blown the title, as we all did. That's why he reacted as he did.

Now, at last, Gallas has owned up. He has spoken about that trauma on February 23.

He said, "I learned a lot, you want to be the best captain, give good advice to your players, but sometimes you can make mistakes as well. So I think this season I know what I'm going to do and I know I am ready to change my way to speak to the players."

We can understand that the other players were furious with Gallas sulking at the other end of the pitch. The fans were livid. And the manager was very, very disappointed by his captain's reaction.

I hope Gallas keeps the armband. He's a warrior who can concentrate and score a goal in a very tight games. I still think he's the best man for the job.

can always give the armband to keepers but arsenal keepers are too quiet nowadays...
