5D Mirror Drop Out

haiz , i just can't believe it ....my 5D mirror DROP out TODAY at the AirShow !!!!!!! took afew pics then all went black!!! lucky was wif my sis and she brought my 350D.... haiz .....@#$% ... monday i going to bang table liaoz.....

wow even the latest batch did not have this problem corrected before selling~~

My batch old one. haiz, i traded for 5D, hmmmm later go ask canon new bach got fix anot.
sian, i use 350D, 40D also never visit service centre before .... haiz ....

noted on that.. new batch of 5D should have this problem resolved..
 

hmm, but think in my mind, i'm hoping for the mirror to drop out, so i will feel safer in future ?? haha

fixing the mirror should be free right ?
will they charge me for sensor cleaning ?

if no more warranty, they might charge for service charge..

just went down, had to bargain abit for the sensor cleaning..
overall they did not resist much... i guess they already know.. haha

i have no idea on the service charge for glue process. they do for you free is good~~
 

How can i find out wether my 5D is old or new batch?
Its a nagging thought everytime i have important shoot...
 

well .. i sent my 5D in a few months back after my mirror fell out, and the mirror fix was free. They even cleaned the sensor for me (free), and replaced the scratched focusing screen (also free).

focus screen scratched ?! .... how can I check ? thanks. haiz... have to wait 5 days cause i requested to change the mirror haha... now using 350D ... feels so wierd ... hahaha

hmmm guys , just got back my 5D, they updated my firmware to 1.1.1 say in mid march then will release. new firmware can use higher storage CF cards.
anyone got hear of this ? just wondering

Just a reminder to all Canon folks: When collecting your gear, do check the mirror alignment thoroughly before signing above the dotted line. My friend's 5D had to be returned twice due to poor workmanship by CSC. The technician said they used their own 'local' glue because they don't have the factory standard glue in stock. Hence, there was ghosting and blurry vision when looking through the viewfinder. It was my friend's fault as well for now checking thoroughly but upon hearing how they treated my friend, I am rather disappointed with their level of service now.
