Ubud, Bali 2010 revisit

Some of mine from Ubud, the cultural heart of Bali.

1. Women bearing ceremonial offerings coming out of their homes to join an annual procession to the temple.
Location: Desa Mas village, Ubud.

2. Morning market at Kayu Ambar. This is one of the biggest market in Ubud.
Farmers bring out their produce to sell here, wholesale and retail.
The main market near the royal palace in town get their supplies from here.

3. Chili and onions, the lighting inside the Kayu Ambar market is just magnificent.

4. Cleansing ritual in the pool of Pura Tirta Empul Tapaksiring. This is a daily event,
but you'll find more people on ceremonial days and full moon days.

5. Village elders enjoying a morning workout on the cockerels.

I attended a workshop with Manny Librodo back in 2007. That explains the style of the portraits. And btw, banhup was with me on this trip to Bali (that he organised).

I know there are some request for beach shots, but on this trip I didn't target the beautiful beaches of Bali. The only beach shot I had were those of the two fishing villages I visited, and they were littered and full of boats, not the iconic Bali beaches that you see in travel magazines.

I was at Uluwatu in 2007, and there are some beautiful cliffs and beaches there. Those around Kuta are overdeveloped and too commercialised. Hope that helps.
