I just got to find more time to shoot!
Balancing 2 small children makes it so hard to find time during sane hours of the day.

I'm trying hard to shoot during "nobodies time", which is the time when the family is asleep.
Got on my commute bike with the K30+DA15 and a tripod and made my way to Punggol.
Hopefully, I can make this more regular.....

I read from this article. One of the articles that I could understand with simple instructions, :bsmilie:

I'd think that maybe its the attitude of locals here to being photographed, the 'tourist' effect and also preferring the longer lens for isolation since we are so familiar with the environment that we don't bother/want to have it as context.

By tourist effect, I mean that extra boldness we get doing photography because we are tourists and the ppl around accept us as such, so not much self inhibition when photographing ppl.
We'd also like to cover more things in context.

On the attitude of locals..sometimes i wonder if it is really just ourselves thinking that Singaporeans do not like their pics to be taken by random people..i have seen pple in HCM and Tokyo turning their heads away when they see me trying to take some pics..moreover as you mention in the last outing..some people might not even know if their pics are being taken..i think as long as our intentions are honest and we are willing to delete the photos if requested..we can be abit braver when it comes to street photography in Sg..

the tourist effect can really be powerful..like some gers only dare to wear bikini in overseas beaches ;p

another point i like to highlight is that sometimes the number of people on the streets can determine your focal length choice..for e.g..when i was in Shibuya..the crowd there meant tat I use my DA21 more as other longer focal length would be impractical..

I concur with what Pinholecamera said about the tourist effect. Whenever I do street photography in Singapore the subjects, particularly if they are locals, would instinctively turn away. So a longer focal length does help.

a longer FL will help..i prefer to shoot with a FA77 due to its longer FL and its small enough..but a wider lens can give different perspectives to our photos :)

Reverse the psychology , wear like a tourist and take photo, I think that would be welcomed by locals.

hahaha...tats one of the techniques i read before..dress like a tourist!

I'm not sure about this. But if you see tungtong or bananadiver's threads, they always shoot with wide angle lens in Singapore. So I guess, it's more about our attitude and how we approach the subject.

yes..i think so also..tats why i did a challenge today and roam the streets with only DA21 on my k-01

set myself a challenge today to go out with my DA21 only...here are the results..not the best but still can do..
