Central Fire Station

I have wanted to take this shot for the longest time. Finally managed to take it without any vehicles passing by and after months of waiting developed the film as well.

Since the subject for this month's gathering is street shooting..let me share some of my street shooting taken during earlier this month...

in Singapore..somehow my fav lens for street shooting is FA77 (although in Tokyo, it was DA21 and HCM is FA43)..different country streets require different lens?

All taken with k-01 and FA77

I am looking at you...

I'd think that maybe its the attitude of locals here to being photographed, the 'tourist' effect and also preferring the longer lens for isolation since we are so familiar with the environment that we don't bother/want to have it as context.

By tourist effect, I mean that extra boldness we get doing photography because we are tourists and the ppl around accept us as such, so not much self inhibition when photographing ppl.
We'd also like to cover more things in context.

Another Capital Land walkabout shot.

K30; DA15ltd. 3 frames

I really met up with the limitations of a fixed narrower FOV with just 15mm (aps-c) in this walkabout, and I only used this lens throughout the 5-6hr walk.
In cityscapes, where buildings go high and there is often little room to move back for more FOV coverage, it can be hard to get everything in the frame with just 22.5mm equivalent.
This is usually not a problem with wide spaces overseas.
Pano stitching would help to get back that wider FOV, but I'm really still exploring the workarounds.
And of course there is 'composing around the FL' :)

This was one of those shots, I felt 'mandatory' to do (since I was already there), but didn't really think would work out.
Dirty windows, not the best of light, not too great FOV, limited possibilities of placing the tripod and a bluish tint to the window glass.
But B&W saved the day I guess... :)

I concur with what Pinholecamera said about the tourist effect. Whenever I do street photography in Singapore the subjects, particularly if they are locals, would instinctively turn away. So a longer focal length does help.

Reverse the psychology , wear like a tourist and take photo, I think that would be welcomed by locals.

I'm not sure about this. But if you see tungtong or bananadiver's threads, they always shoot with wide angle lens in Singapore. So I guess, it's more about our attitude and how we approach the subject.
