Wonder what the old DA40 would look like on K-01?

By far the best looking! Swee lah!

Fengwei you must feel great the dc.nphoto.net mention about your name.

Why I'd feel great about that? Those people 'borrow' my photos all the time, and sometimes they even put their own signatures on my photos w/o even letting me know :(

I'd feel a lot better when I had the K-01 in my hands ;p

I really think the combination of the new body with the new pancake lens does look .... Ugly, but I blame the lens entirely, I understand the practicality argument for pancake lenses, but really, if you are trying to promote a new product, asthetics is a huge part of capturing a new audience favourably...

I agree with your view.

Practically though, the main problem with the mirrorless series, whether it's NEX, M4/3, etc... At least for me, is that yes, the body very slim, very nice. But you stick a normal lens (which is the case for most of the kit lenses, NEX 18-55, M4/3 14-42) on it, it becomes bulky and not so easy to put into a bag. In which case the difference is just slightly more than marginal.

Pairing with the 40mm F/2.8 XS, you could very well easily slip it into the front pocket of a Billingham (I think and hope), which would make it more applicable as an everyday camera. Pairing this with all the other pancake lenses that Pentax has, (much more extensive than any other brands, I note) this is going to be a strong selling point, I'd like to think.

Sure can (and will?) replace my Ricoh GRD any day. The trade-off in size vs image quality is so worth it. And I have 3 pancake limiteds already!

Price price price price price!! I'm already sold!

Just thinking about it, it is good as a backup camera for the K5/K7 on overseas trips in case of camera shutter failure, damage, etc. Especially since it uses the same battery. And on the more casual days where you aren't doing serious shooting, you can leave the K5/K7 in a safe place and just bring it out with the 40mm F/2.8 XS.

u are finding alot of excuses to buy 1... :bsmilie:

There are a lot reasons to buy one: K mount, mirrorless, unique looking probably nobody wants to steal, share all the lenses and some accessories w/ previous dSLR cameras, and it's a Pentax ... :D

Where did this image come from?

K-5_SE_40xs_silver3_front-top.jpg

That is clearly NOT a K-01, but is clearly an APS-C camera with pentamirror/prism and viewfinder.
The flat front on the prism is reminiscent of the *istD which has a pentaprism instead of a pentamirror (although it could just be retro-styling).

THIS is the Limited Edition K5 with the new DA40XS lens. FW did mention it in the post earlier. The grip is from the Black K5 though.

I did not regret getting the Black K5 as I realy "üse" the camera a lot.

By now, the XS should be mean for Xtra Slim :)

prime M guess if spore couple the price with 40mm is good I may giveup my KR
