Online Appeal to WR to reinstate Individual/Dual Memberships for FOZ/FOB

Please, please let us have it, the FOZ/FOB individual membership. Affordable location for shooting to our heart's content.

tot i'd post a reminder to all on why they pulled the plug on individual/dual memberships:

"With the merger of the 3 parks, namely, Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and Jurong BirdPark, we have to manage an entire spectrum of membership requirements. We have to review our business responsibility to ensure that we do not compromise the integrity of our donation
collected through the membership fee at the expense of the critical mass.

It became apparent to us that maintaining all aspects of a membership would be costly and
inevitable we have no choice but to adjust our membership format in order to operate effectively.

Our one single purpose is to create a balance and provide good educational and entertainment
value for all to enjoy. Though we value each and every contribution through our membership, it
is also important that we are prudent in our measures.

One of the reasons we have removed all other categories was due to economy of scale, notwithstanding
the fact that many other issues had been discusssed prior to this decision. For a start, 90 % of our
members are made up of 2 adults + 3 children.

Our policies towards our donor relations have always been predisposed to customer satisfaction. And it has never been our intention to be rigid and inflexible. Unfortunately as an Institute of Public Character, we do have our constraints and considerations.

We hope that you would accept our sincerity and not let this adjustment affect your relation with us. "

hope this will help others to join in the appeal too! :)

Me! Me! Wanted to go back the zoo/jbp etc.

sounds like an extension of romancing singapore:D no kids, no zoo?
i'm all for reinstatement of single and dual membership. i'm sure even for non-photographers, a visit to the zoo, even alone, is a relaxing and enjoyable experience. i'm single and would greatly appreciate it if the scheme is reintroduced.

:)

I don't know how relevant this is... For a start, this is the FIRST time they offered 3-in-1 memberships. Can the past data be true reflection of the demographics?

Also, with the blooming of photography in Sg...thanks to digital cams and phone cams... they may be missing out on a potential market.

Anyway, only time will tell if they benifit from such decision.... just look at sentosa. In the meanwhile, I'll just shoot different subjects. :blah:

Sounds like bullshit to me. I think they just want to squeeze more money.

they are all the same

Increase the subscription rates if they like but doing what they did is really terrible, what about retirees, divorcees, widows/widowers, singles, couples - do they all have have kids etc and only have family memberships? Plus now cannot even get free parking.

My children are 2 years old and 4 months old now. My wife and I have been FOZ dual member since 2003 and will expire in 2006 (thank God I decided on a 3 years deal!). However, I STRONGLY support the dual membership.

On another topic, why call it Wildlife Unlimited when it is obviously not wild! (Sorry Darren for the OT here!) :)

It's about time capitalism ends.
Im in too.

sure count me in.. I practice at the zoo with the storks

Now the Zoo is ZOO INC. Make more money at all costs
so that they can bring in more variety?

Just wondering, how useful is it for us to post our vote here? Will the relevant authorities pay any attention to it? Maybe someone who is good at writing and make a contribution to the straits times. :dunno:

Got to start the ball rolling somewhere. When there are sufficient voices, then we either approach the Zoo directly or talk to the media.
