u can go MS colour to shop, the staff der are more patient and friendly than SLS salesperson.

Going down to test it always better, you get a good feel of what attracts you, be it the design or the images produced.

yup careful of salesman's sweet talk. n oso please do not be shaken by freebies. Some cameras can be give u so much freebies, like MP4 player or what. Freebies are secondary. WHat matters most is the picture quality. IF not why do people pay so much for DSLR with no freebies.

show do throw in great deals. i agree. but big shops may throw in better deals like MS colour, AP etc. If nt better, they will try to match the deals. futhermore u can compare cameras side by side. even better! which u cant do it in big shows.

Fuji f31d uses XD cards, will this be an issue? My friend want to get one P&S and I know nothing about P&S. Comparing fuji f31d with canon Ixus 850IS, or the new 950IS which is a better cam.

If no budget, get CANON....=)

fuji is better in terms of colours. colours are more natural. currently now in the market, f31 is one of the best performers under high iso. ixus 850 is out. not as good as f31. I haven seen ixus 950. but from the specs, it is a bit diff from ixus 850. they do away with the wide angle.

the latest model which i have seen are ixus 70, 75 and TX1. these models are not as good as f31. in terms of pic quality. TX1 is for video.

pana compacts uses leica lens. leica lens are good lenses. a piece of good leica lens is very expensive. do u tink pana will put good lens on a less than 500 cam? unless they are doing charity.

also when set to high iso, pana pic quality is way too noisy. maybe u can test it out..
