but what's to say, you can make a lot of noise about this in here, but most of those who make noise, one day, this might be your son.

will you protect him then?

this 'protecting' will 'kill' our children in other ways in future

mine is only 11 and already understands self-respect and responsibility ..... and 2 years back, she HAS done what this NS boy did .... make our domestic carry her crap when she was busy playing with a handheld game ..... a single stroke of the cane behind her legs when she got home woke her up real quick then ..... never repeated again

i'm quite shocked at my younger cousin. he's 8 this year and can't tie his own shoelaces. behaves like a 4 year old and has no manners (well-behaved only to his father and my dad and my other uncle). i'm shocked because his elder brother isn't like that. and my uncle is well-known for his strictness. i'm guessing my aunt spoiled him rotten.

even back in my secondary school, in my old CCA, my friend who's a leader is complaining about how parents are cracking down on them for making the boys drop 10... why back in my day not getting dropped 100 in a sitting is already a blessing! plus those busy bodies from the HDB estate will call in to complain about the boys standing under the hot sun. back in my day, we told our teacher to tell the residents to shut up, because we were MEN not MICE.

Well done and excellent discipline in parenthood. I believe in 'spare the rod, spoil the child'. A lot of the folks these days who 'protect' their child in the name of 'giving them the best' will someday realize what a BIG MISTAKE they are making.
