National serviceman needs maid to carry his backpack

from what i see if the boy is able to walk, there is no excuse to ask someone to carry your bag. if you really cannot carry full back pack, tell your officer. asking someone(wife, maid, mother) to carry your bag is lame, what ever reason is it.

Just for the sake of fun, so you're saying that an armless person who can walk should carry his bag himself? :bsmilie:

How about a 90 year old grandmother who can walk???

Anyways, understand what you mean, of course.

I think your making an issue out of nothing here, ninelives is commenting on the subject NS boy who looks fit and proper in the picture therefore felt that being a man he should carry his own backpack.
Pls stop using disabled and old people in your argument, it is insensitive and outright stupid.

please don't compare a ns man with a 2 legs and 2 arms with a 90 yrs old woman or an armless person. the context here is about a well built ns man. i think you are a troll . you are the 1st person in my ignore list, since 2002. here's a screenshot for you.

Which part of "I'm joking" did you not get? :bsmilie:

You mean, I have to state it outright? "Just for the sake of fun", a smilie, and "understand what you mean" isn't enough? :bsmilie:

Just to highlight, screenshot doesn't matter, you can always click No after that mar. You should screenshot the real Ignore list.... And even then, can remove after that, so this screenshotting thing is pointless. I'm just joking again, but I guess perhaps someone's having a bad day. :)

on the face of it, the photo does make the image of the SAF and our NSmen look bad. But let's give the S.A.F. a chance to investigate more fully lah. :)

I don't really care about whether you are fair to this guy, actually.

I just wonder if anyone notices that it's just so common these days to see a picture on Stomp, and then paint a picture of life based on what you want it to be (in this case, people seem to WANT this guy to be a mommy's boy). I wonder if anyone remembers uncle catchlights' earlier highlighting of the fact that the boy in the 7-11 case(where the mother complained that the 7-11 store clerk had scolded her child too severely for taking a magazinet o browse) could be intellectually challenged.

yup i can see that you don't really care about the fate but more on the exposition and debate ;)

if we say a picture paints a thousand words, and can depict many stories...

then why is everyone just coming to a conclusion with one? is this your point?

that being said, the story of the cancer patient opens up another debate:

some cancer patients don't want you to be sad for them, and keep smiling. others just want your pity... but that's already OT

Precisely, what happened to principles? Why do we have doubts about certain things and question so much but accept others so readily? I'm guilty of it too, don't get me wrong. Like I've said it's easy to jump to conclusions.

Well it's like the CS XMM protection people, I once interpreted it as a picture of the gullible girl who got suckered into this and that, but after some time I've come to realize that some of them want to be suckered in some sense, and that is their choice after all. But there will always be those who want to be knights in shining armor. When I brought up the example of the old , the disabled and the cancer patient those were to illustrate these double standards we have. Of course in CS it is common to twist simple examples to carry out character assassinations to insinuate disrespect of some form to those groups. Why not? Doing so allows one to feel that he has rebutted logic sufficiently when effectively they have done nothing more than show that they have no answer. Cheers.

Actually, there's nothing to interpret otherwise from the picture.

Damn clear cut isn't it? Hope his Sect Cmdr identify and tekan this boy.

I cannot accept him as a man, even if in SAF uniform.

I can understand if the fella taking the pic must be annoyed too. Like this cannot depend him to defend Singapore.

Must recall MR (Mindef Reserve) guys like many of us in that case. Many of us have done our time (2-2.5yrs NSF + 13 year cycle Reservist), I see this, really crap.

but truth be told, the NSF of today are getting to pampered.

but what's to say, you can make a lot of noise about this in here, but most of those who make noise, one day, this might be your son.

will you protect him then?

Press release

I've never watched The Noose before but I must admit that was hilarious. :bsmilie:

edutilos: I think ninelives is only joking. Else he wouldn't bother with the screen shot. I thought you had decided to take life less seriously (or something to that effect) after your previous bad experience? Chill, this is only kopitiam.

Jollin: just to answer, yes, edutilos is local.

i think that it's others taking it too seriously. there are those who find fun in debate and exposition, while there are others who take things at face value and get serious easily.

no maids, no problem!

Good question.

I have a boy and a maid.

If my boy do that in the future, I am pretty sure my whole neighbourhood will hear a crazy man shouting at the top of his voice for quite a while..........

As parents, I think we can try our best to prevent this from happening by training the kids from young.

This comment may not be fair to the person involved, but I really think that the parents have really spoilt this young boy. Question to you guys: WHY THE HELL DOES HE NEED THE MAID TO PICK HIM UP WHEN HE BOOK OUT?.............Scared kenna rob??? :thumbsd:

LOL ! this NS kid must now be really traumatized with all the hoo ha around making his maid carry his backpack
