Dear all,

I have question that I have been pondering for quite some time.

Usually a white or silver reflector is used for outdoor and studio to put highlight onto the subject. The question is, should I take a hand held meter reading before I place to refected light or during the placement of the reflected.

Seeking your advise in this matter please.

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,
Fire Kirin

common sense tells me u meter only wen ur fully prepared to expose.

Well, if I were to meter it when I placed my reflector light, will it compensate the intention to put in my highlight?

As a result, would it cause the negate the highlighting effect and also adversely affecting the exposure in the background, making it slight underexposed?

Seeking you valued opinion please.

Thanks.

huh?

film or digital, once u have metered an object, the readings u achieve, if accurate, will correctly expose your subject. however, if your background is very bright or very dark, then the background exp will just be totally thrown off.

anyway why have u been pondering for so long? just go and experiment and learn from first hand experience.

hope i helped
regards
Doug
