Are the camelion battries any good, or do you think that it's better to just spring for the additional 4 bucks or so for eneloops? Eneloops are a known quantity, but I somehow suspect that these dudes may be the OEM.

Camelion is a germany brand. http://www.camelionbattery.com/

I'd been using them since last IT show. It's cheaper than the others and works well. The charger IMHO is worth getting. They are selling this for $22 b4 GST;

If you wanna go for eneloops I suggest u get the Powerex Imedion. East gear having trade-in offer of $16 for 4.

Thanks so much - such a quick, comprehensive response! :D

I'm tempted by that charger, except that 2200mah seems rather quick unless the speed is needed. Do you have one, and can a "slower charge" option be selected?

Also - any link to the trade-in offer? I presume you can trade in any rechargeable?

thanks again!

Apparently eastgear is going to have a "trade in any charger for $10" deal. I might wait for a C9000, since that would allow me to match batteries (and it has "slow" charge).

If I would to do my portfolio now, it'll be only macros and petography. I'll prefer to go into events but I scare later I'll end up changing camp. So XMM would be gd. Also I'm at the limit of my petography, I need time off to rediscover it like what I did with my macros.

Why are you afraid of changing camps?!

Very headache leh.. need read thru all the bodies and lenses to think of what I'll need. I'll missed using the Vivitar 105mm if I go N or C.

dnaxe
i think it has got to do with auto focusing in low light. pentax is behind the C & N brand.

also due to the flash^^; Not say Pentax can't do event, just that there are more steps involved. Sometime u just dun have time to think well^^; I did some doggie events, so more or less know what it felt like. So understand why some bro switch camp to pursuit the path to becoming a pro^^;

Longko: Ah. It's easy to spec out an "best currently possible" events camera though - with sufficient cash and assuming you can stand the weight: Nikon D3, 24-70 (or 17-35), 70-200, SB800. It's not like you have to give up pentax ;)

seefei: I realise that - I was just wondering why he was shying away from it. :)

Sigh. Given that my body has no pc-sync cord, I'm going to have to buy 2 SB3000s for easy off-camera flash. Still cheaper than almost any other solution though! (mainly because pocketwizards are so expensive).

Speaking of which - anyone tried using any other remote flash trigger?

No more stock left! Just called them. =(

I go OT abit...wat u guys tink of Pentax AF-500FTZ Electronic Flash as my first flash? Does it work well together with K20D?

Not gonna keep 2 system:bsmilie: It's not like my photos are paying for the stuff I buy, so can save must save^^

gigahz uses cactus v2. He's gonna test it on Sat on the Nikon mount. Scary leh.. 6 yesterday today none. Who went to sweep everything? lol Seriously hope no one took advantage of this and resell them at higher price.

Thanks guys for the review !

Sadly, I just broke camp, and the news broke that stock has ran out !

Oh well...

Hope they'll bring in more then:sweat:

BTW if anyone going to get other mount for strobist action, can help test the HS-02 slave hotshoe? Test slave mode 3, with P-TTL HSS 1/250s or 1/500s. I think it might work. On specs it works up to 9m (29feet).

I just got one, and there are definitely 2 left. However, both of them obviously seem to have some issue with retaining charge or something? I'm not entirely sure, but flashes AFAIK have a charging sound, then are silent.

Those two (which I didn't buy) had a continual high pitched squeak.

Do you guys notice that on your units?

I'm deaf on high pitch so that sound is not visible to me unless I place my ears really near. After the charging, there'll be a soft high pitch (at least to me it's soft). I believe that's due to the speaker within.

dnaxe, all flash units emit a whine when the capacitors are charged. Everytime the capacitors get charged up, even at standby, there will be the whine. Quite normal lah.
