Hi all,

I am new in this forum .
I just wnatedto say that a friend of mine have made a site dedicaded to M42 lens .
You can all be editors of the site, posting info on lens and the photos you've done with them . Like that we 'll have a very big site about M42 to show what lens can do .

The site : http://m42.povlab.org/

Thanks a lot !

Well done! I was thinking about it for some time but it looks now like it's been done.
I'll take a closer look. I see my M42 counterparts like Jay are already there.

M42 Lenses I am currently using: 20/3.5 Mir, 20/2.8 CZJ, 35/2.4 CZJ, 50/1.8 CZJ, 50/2.8Ind, 50/1.8Tak, 50/2Tak, 50/4 CZJ, 80/1.8 CZJ, 80/2.8 CZJ, 120/2.8 CZJ, 135/3.5 CZJ, 135/2.8Ptc, 180/2.8 CZJ, 200/4Russian, 300/4 CZJ/PTC. Most of the lens with one or two spares.
Bodies: Spotmatics, 1970sCanon-EF, Praktica, Zenits, PentaxMX (sometime ago), EOS(long time ago since i seldom use electronic).
On streets i used my voigtlander and spotmatic most frequently, specifically the 35/2.4, 80/1.8, 135/3.5. For my Europe/Australia travel i brought along extras like 20/2.8.
Update:
Forgotten about my sweetest lady: Vivitar Series-I 90mm f2.6 macro, in black sexy laboratory tube!
AND 55/1.8 Fujinon EBC (spoilt filterRing).

Hi,
all M42 screw thread mount body users.

I think a new camera with M42 screw mount is made again and available. :bsmilie:
Bessamatic.
Made by the same people who make Voightlander cams.
$600.

Is it? I tot it was available quite sometime ago? Also made by Cosina, many pengyu here have it too. Unless we are talking about different thing.

Hi
whoelse

yah, must be the same thing. :p
I think Cosina makes for Voightlander.
So, how is the camera?
It works properly with the Super Takumar screw mount lens?
As in auto iris stop down and metering?
I would like it to have diagonal 45 degree split image.
Since many members here have it, maybe can describe.
Is it match needle metering or like FM2 + and - LEDs.
Any provision for a winder ?

I dunno, quite a few here has one but quite expensive but available new. I think the pluses are bright screen, SPD meter. I'll go for a Fujica or Pentax K and use a M42 adapter.

U do a search here u shd find those who has it, can PM them.

It's called the Voigtlander Bessaflex TM and is available in completely different designs depending on black or silver. I just sold my black one.

Hi, I'm new to this forum, found you when googling for opinions on my newly acquired czj 36 f2.4. My collection , used on my eos 10d is mainly czj, 29, 50 tessar , 135 f3.5 and Jenazoom 75-300. Plus the ubiquitous Zenitar 16. The odd one is an Ensinor 24 f2.8, made in Japan MC very close focussing and distinctly sharper than my Canon 24-85 (but with a similar degree of barrel distortion). Colour on the cold side. Apart from a mention on a South African vendor's website I have been able to find nothing about this brand. My local collector's specialist, Camerex, opined that it bore a family resemblance to Tokina. At the £25 a "cult classic". Anyone know any more?

ya
i got 1 bessaflex TM.
super bright viewfinder. brighter than most cams i believe.
auto iris stop down and metering.
split image focusing.
+ and - LEDs
think got winder.
but have to order.

Hi tiong78

Great, get the winder. Always love to see bright (optical) pentaprism viewfinder. That is why I cannot tolerate electronic viewfinder in some digiSLRs.
Wonder if they plan to intro some Voightlander APO lenses :p in M42 screw mount for the bessaflex TM.

haa. dun think im getting it.
its getting less use since i got my DS. but will still like to shoot B&W with it.
but im still amaze whenever i put to to my eyes w the 50 tak. it juz blows my DS away.

Hoya 35 f2.8, SMC Takumar 50 f1.4, Zenit MC Helios 44M-5 58mm f2, Takumar 135 f2.5, Super Takumar 150mm f4, Super Takumar 200 f4, Pentacon 6 500mm f5.6

Hi Everyone,
I just got myself a M42 Nikon adaptor, I am hoping someone here could guide me to a good M42 lens to get for keeps.

I think WA is one I usually shoot at, but since reading that there are many of these lens that are made by Cosina, I am worried of getting the wrong ones.

Any help is much appreciated, and if you have a rough price guide for me that would be most helpful as well, thanks in advance.

Wow, these lens are fantastic, only make me eager to go get one soon. Anywhere to get the lens in Singapore?

I think the photographer's technique is better even.

Please be careful, there isn't any M42 to NIKON camera type of adaptor. unless you want just closeup shot. Pity those Nikonian! ;p

I agree with you. Equipment ain't everything, skill/experience definitely place higher priority. The different is not so great especially with modern lens unless you blow up to A4 size. color/boke is another thing.

For a start get a manual (film) camera with reasonable lens, experience with the equipment (get used to them) and slowly upgrade within the same line/brand of system.

Anyone experience with CZ Biotar 58mm pls share if thats multicoated? in my memory that seems to be not highly multicoated. single coated like the zebra? The color/sharpness from the biotar seems good.

Oh my...

Well, lessons learned but the box indicate as lens adapter M42 with a sticker showing Nikon and made in Japan some more.

Can I try out your lens and see if it works? at your convenient location of course and better still I pass my D70 and the lens adapter for you to test it out I will just stand beside you to see you test. Your PM seems full already so have to post here lah!

If it works, only then I will hunt for M42 mount lens otherwise no point really, can't change system mid-way unless willing to get rid of both digital and film Nikon bodies :bheart: not to mention some lenses... though they are cheap ones
