is color filter (for B&W) replacable by digital?

there are 'digital' color filter (yellow, green, red....) selection in the B&W setting (not referring to those effect serpia.....) on dslr, is the effect comparable to using the actual color filter?
anyone done any comparison between the 'digital' and 'actual'?

Of coz....get the Olympus E-500

The whole point of digital is flexibility. The best results you can get is shooting in color first, then going to photoshop to adjust the individual levels in the channel mixer for optimum black and white results.

but my main concern here is the effect, whether is it comparable? understand the flexibility (i dont care much on this, what i like to know is the output quality).

Strictly speaking, it's not. For some specialised filters, there can be noticeable differences. For generic colour filters the differences should not matter much.
