Dear All Gurus,

I am currently considering whether to get a Hoya or Kenko CPL filter. Any suggestion? The shop told me that its from the same manufacturer. However, the Hoya will be a little bit more expensive.

Thanks. :)

The shop is right. They are "the same".

Get the Kenko. Value for money.

These things puzzle me always... sigh, why can't they just stick to one name if it's all same same, it's not like Hoya or Kenko has bad reputation. To top it all, price also different.

Anyhoo, for me, all I have in Hoya S-HMCs though I was ever offered Kenko.

I have used a Kenko, but Hoya CPL works well for me. I do agree that it is not easy to clean compare to BW. Any speck of dust on the filter irritates me.

Both are the same. Kenko's for the Japanese market basically.

Marketing strategy perhaps?

Toyota Harrier, Lexus RX300.
Acura RSX, Honda Integra

As they say in Thailand,

Same same, but different! ;)

Get a multi-caoted one whatever the brand. Dun get those $10 Kenko - its a waste of money.

While I don't know the cost difference among the two brands but don't forget to factor in the price of your transport for finding a certain type of Kenko filters if shops don't stock them.
