I plan to buy a 2nd hand camcorder for my sis, but is worried about fungus problem. How to check for fungus in a camcorder (it is dark...right?)? With normal camera lens, I can see through it, and point it at a bright light source. How about camcorder lens?

What else should I check/take note of when buying 2nd hand camcorder?

Thanks.

Use a penlight and shine into the lens while looking carefully. About the only way. Consumer camcorder lenses doesn't have that many elements and groups anyway.

Plan to get the Sony DCR TRV 17e. Any comments? What's the reasonable price (in buyer shoe) to pay for a year+ old model? S$800 ok?
