Not real Aussie surf culture but an invented for Japanese toursts version.

Real Aussie sufers are tend 'green' and spend their time finding that great remote surf beach away from the crowds and and polution of the built up areas.

IMHO the entire South East Queensland coast has been ruined by over developement. People moved into the area 'cause it had nice natural features and then they proceed to develop it to death.

Gold Coast? Of course must visit Movie World, Sea World, Pacific Mall, Jupiter Conrad Hotel casino,
Bondi Beach....

Bondi Beach is around 2000km from the Gold Coast. The Gold Cost is effectively a Suburb of Brisbane.
Bondi is a suburb of Sydney.

Besides Bondi Beach is just one of a string of similar beachs down the entire coast of Sydney. We got lots of 'em.

I prefer Cronulla's beaches my self. Grew up near there. :)

Cronulla's main beach is a short walk from a railway station as well - quite easy to get to. Bondi requires a bus trip.

Hi.

Just return from Cairns and GC last week.

Movie World is a must. As Singpaore or anywhere near don't have something similar. And it is a good place to take photo. Trust me, bring more films or digital storage media.

DreamWolrd can skip as you can find similar things in Genting, i think. :)

Miss SeaWorld, but heard that it is more worthwhile to visit then DreamWorld.

Wet N Wild is just a bigger Fantasy Island as in Sentosa.

And go to this places during the weekdays, not so crowded, less queue.

Personally thinks that one thing you shouldn't miss is surfing. Maybe can spend the money for a one day surfing lesson. The wave is great and the water is clear. :) Dec the water should not be too cold.

Should rent a car and explore the national parks. Got great waterfalls, provided there is enough rainfall. As you might now now Australia is suffering from drought.

Car rental is cheap, I got a KIA car which can hold 4 person for AU$39 a day, unlimited kilometer. But must rent more than 3 days. And the petrol is cheap also, less than AU$0.90. And the traffic is OK, drivers are friendly too. Just imagine, i have no being driving in Singapore since i got my license in May. I still can manage.

Unless you don't want to rent a car, public transport is still good. You can get those bus pass for 24hr transport though out Surfers Paradise. Go check for names like Surferside Busline or Gold Coast Toursit Shuttle in the web and you can get alot of info.

If you are landing in Brisbane Airport instead of a nearer airport to Gold Coast, then you can take a transport service called AirTrainConnect. This will take you from Brisbane Airport to a train Station called Robina by train and from there take a shuttle bus to whichever accommodation in Gold Coast. Everything included for one trip, the cost is AU$28 per adult. If you buy the return ticket together with the first trip, then you only need to pay AU$50. And you then arrange the return pickup time 24hr before yout return flight. All this info can be found on the web, search for AirTrainConnect.

Try to arrange you own accommodation, go for resort type. Got kitchen everything ready, atleast the one i engage does. Go for those resort that face the sea. Good long beach view, provided you have the choice.

Food there is more expensive then Singapore, except for fast food relatively close in price. But supermarket stuff are cheap. So if you got a resort, you can save some money by cooking yourself. :) Provided you don't mind torturing yourself.

And lastly go with enough spare films and batteries, as his stuff are expensive there. Really more expensive than Singapore. I am lucky i left with one roll. :)

OK happy holiday. and hope my info is useful. :)

wow this is greate infor...thanks pal...great...me staying at novotel..not too sure if it's near the surfer's paradise....hey any pics to share???.....:devil:

Dun worry, novetell is near to the beach, just few blocks away from the beach.

I was staying there last time I visited GC.

n-joy u stay

As long as you are staying Surfers Paradise, the beach is always within walking distance.

One more thing, I don't know about the weather in Dec. But in Oct, the sea breeze can be quite cold in the day. Especially so in the morning and night. So i think it is a good idea to bring along some windbreaker or things like that. My girlfriend got a tough time walking from the parking lot to the shopping centre along the beach. As the parking lot is free, so it is situated some distance from the shopping centre.

Lastly, don't forget to bring your bikini if you are a lady. :p

Enjoy. :)

what's the minimum age requirement for entry into casino?

Don't know specifics, but generally the age in Australia is 18.
Persons under the age of 18 are lot allowed in 'licenced' premises unless acompanied by an adult. It is illegal to serve alcohol to any one under the age of 18.
The gaming floor of a casino is probably even more strict, even acompanied minors are probably not allowed.
It is illegal to take bets from minors.

korea is cold in dec and yet not in snow ski season. best to go around jan ~ feb for snow; else like japan best to visit in autumn & summer/late srping

I'm not a casino type. I don't know exactly, but I expect it varies.

I was with a group of friends in Canberra and recall being turned away at the door because I was wearing jeans.

I've walked through the floors of Sydney and Melbourne casinos but can't remember what I was wearing at the time. In Melbourne I was with a friend who was doing work on a Keno game system and he had a casino security pass on. I may have got past the minders simply 'cause I was with some one with a security tag.

It probably also varies by time of day, they are likely to have more strict dress code in the evenings.

no leh, when i was in melbourne in july, i can just walked in wearing jeans and my winter coat leh...din see any signs abt dress code.....
