Gitzo vs Manfrotto

That never happened. It's a myth actually.
Both were bought over by Vitec Group Plc (Which is British I believe). Manfrotto in 1989 and Gitzo in 1992.

right about the Vitec group, its British no doubt.

I beg to differ, I'm using a Feisol CF tripod and head, and the quality, though admitedly isn't of a "superb" standard, is still remarkablely good, and perfectly fine for my 70-200 2.8 IS. I have no qualms about using my long lens on it.

Snoweagle, I would suggest you reconsider your statement, but each to his or her own :)

I'm not referring to Feisol but Benro or Victory brand.

Oh so they are still separate entities under the same parent holding company? No wonder it's so hard to ascertain who acquired who. ;p
