well.. i do have this problem too, except the farting part.. and was given the same medication that you were given.. and my dosage was twice of yours.
my condition is called GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease). It is basically the backflow of acid from your stomach towards your mouth direction. GERD is a disease in which acid from the stomach flows back (refluxes) into the esophagus, causing irritation and sometimes damage to the lining of the esophagus. The reflux of stomach acid can reach high enough to affect the vocal cords or even flow into the lungs (called aspiration), causing damage to those tissues and organs as well
The complaint that i have when having this problem was trouble in swallowing as i always feel that there is something stuck in my throat, which is one of the symptons of GERD. Symptons of GERD:

Regurgitation of foods/fluids; taste of acid in the throat
