So sorry to hear of your predicament, Falcon.

You mentioned that you had gastroscopy and this turned out nothing. Interesting. Could there be another cause of your abdominal pain? I have friends with Irritable Bowel Syndrome or IBS for short that can present this way. BTW, do you smoke or consume alcohol, even socially? You need to stay off these stuff.

My advise is to keep to your present doctor and they will usually sort it out. Hopping doctors may lead to a delay in the proper diagnosis and hence treatment.

Hi, i have the following symptoms,
frequent blurping
frequent farting
bloated (before & after)
appetite is good
bowel habit is good
first week, has pain/cramp similar to heartburn.. then no more after taking ocid
slept with my head lifted higher

seen my family doc and was given 2 perscriptions of ocid (omeprazole 20mg) of about 2week. doc suggest doing a scope.

any advise?

I do not smoke or consume alcohol, not even socially. I will stick to my current doc at the moment. Chinese medicine will only be considered as an alternative if things do nt improve. :)

Hi,

I got gastric before then I've tried drinking Yakult or Vitagen...it works...I found out that some gastric problems are cause by bacteria...Yakult has good bacteria and it kills that bacteria...try it...nothing to loose.

It could be caused by stress, esp since scope do not find out any results.

I had that when I was in my job and when I went away for 1 year for my studies, I was totally fine overseas. However, when I came back to work, the pain came back.....;)

it may be a bit selfish but I feel better reading this thread :)

gastric problem quite common, so no need to worry too much :)

I tried that for a abt 2 mths at the beginning of the year but in the end found that it did not help much. :(

Hi Falcon,

Just curious ... did you try chewing and / or eating raw Ang Mor Celery?

Not yet. Currently just incorporating bananas, milk, honey and ginger into my diet. Never really like Celery but will give it a try if it does me good. :)

Had gastric problem for ard 3-4yrs, did scope, ok.

I've tried this Yakult/Vitagen remedy for coming to a year now with good results thou. 1 bottle a day + regular meals a must and to manage stress well. For me, stress(at work) is the main killer, trying to get it under control. Condition is improving.

Had tried acupuncture, good but TCM medication getting more and more expensive. U can give that a try.

I think you should continue a remedy for a certain period to see the result, dun think 2 months period is sufficient.

Don't give up! Only with persistence and determination can it be CURED. Gastric problem is a stubborn illness. Don't under-estimate it.

Hope this help! :)

Wish you recover well!!

well.. i do have this problem too, except the farting part.. and was given the same medication that you were given.. and my dosage was twice of yours.

my condition is called GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease). It is basically the backflow of acid from your stomach towards your mouth direction. GERD is a disease in which acid from the stomach flows back (refluxes) into the esophagus, causing irritation and sometimes damage to the lining of the esophagus. The reflux of stomach acid can reach high enough to affect the vocal cords or even flow into the lungs (called aspiration), causing damage to those tissues and organs as well

The complaint that i have when having this problem was trouble in swallowing as i always feel that there is something stuck in my throat, which is one of the symptons of GERD. Scope was done to further confirm it, and was put on medication for 1 year. My specialist is from SGH and his skills for doing the scope is .. i dont have the after effects, where ppl complain of throat pain lah, vomit lah.. his name is Steven Menasa...

Symptons of GERD:

Heartburn is the commonest symptom of GERD, experienced as a burning sensation in the center of the chest, which sometimes spreads to the throat; there also may be an acid taste in the throat.

Stomach pain (pain in the upper abdomen)
Non-burning chest pain
Difficulty swallowing or food getting stuck
Painful swallowing
Persistent laryngitis/hoarseness
Persistent sore throat
Chronic cough, new onset asthma, or asthma only at night
Regurgitation of foods/fluids; taste of acid in the throat
Sense of a lump in the throat

you will be able to read more of GERD from here (http://www.gerd.com) & http://www.gerd.com.

Thanks a lot for your encouragement. Agree with you totally about keeping stress under control, though it may sound easier said that done. :)

Hi,
Saw your thread about Gastric. I used to have a serious case of Gastric about two years back. Someone told me to try, taking Soya Bean Milk or Soya Bean Curd (because I am lactose intolerable). Somehow it worked. So I have been taking these and after a while the Gastric seemed to have gone away.

Started out by having as bowl of Soya Bean Curd and Soya Bean Milk in the morning every morning for a week and the Gastric seemed to have a lesser effect on me and eventually gone off. Have not had a Gastric problem for more than a year now.Just a suggestion though. As mentioned in some of the threads, different people react to different kinds of remedies. For me it was the Soya bean Milk and Soya Bean Curd.

Best of all its easy to find, just pop into any Hawker Center in the Mornings or Early Afternoon and you will find at least one stall selling.

Hope it helps you.

Thanks for sharing. Agree that different people react to different kind of remedies. Hopefully I can find one that suits me soon. :)

did a scope, it's a gastritis. now taking Famotidine before bed and Librax before meals. Oh, including the test of Helicobactor Pylori bacteria in the intestine. it's all done by a specialist. hence, really need to pay attention to my diet and have regular meals.

avoiding: chilli/spicy, coffee, tea, alcohol, fried stuff, sour (tomato..), fatty stuff, etc

more vegetable , more fruits, more excercise

What did they see in the scope to conclude that it is gastritis? Did they come up with a proper food diet for you?
