2nd generation PRs must do national service. eg, a foreign father is a PR here, his son borned here must do NS.

PR need to go NS? (I actually not sure if PR need to to NS or not :embrass: )

stay at harbour front, go to loyang to work is considered long distance to travel to work...??

what about those who stay in JB, every day wake up 6am (some even 530am) and travel all the way to SG. When they reach home..it is for sure after 8pm. Never have a chance to have dinner together with their families on time....

There are lots of factory, especially those in Tuas. You will find out that 50% of the factories workers are non Singaporean. Why..?

Travel all the way to Tuas.
Work 12hours shift day/night.
Shift on the weekend.
Average monthly paid $1050.

It is a fact that lots of Singaporean do not want this kinda of job.

Short of labour..then how..? Either the factory move out from Singapore, or to employ non Singaporen.

Thus..there are thousands from JB, and mainland China who is more than willing to take these vacancies.

And some Singaporean who are looking for a job...keep complaining that foreigner had taken away all the job opportunities.

Overall singaporean is not hungry enough.

Errr.. JB to Tuas via 2nd link shorter than Habourfront to Loyang. :bsmilie:

fully agree.

unemployed Singaporean who do not contribute tax to government, get some incentive before election.

employed PR who do contribute tax to government, get nothing..

where got same leh..???

Look at other issue PR vs Citizen benefit

1) medical subsidy
2) children education fees
3) HDB subsidy
etc......

Despite these, why so many PRs from Malaysia refuse to become citizens of Singapore?

They have best of both worlds! Earn enough money, then go back to Malaysia to live a much better lives than when they were in Singapore, taking into account of the lower cost of living in their own country.

Moral of the story... employers should fire all their Singaporean workers, start employing PRs.
Our nation GDP sure increase one...
After all, Singaporeans can get incentives every few years (election) to survive...

it is the first time in my life that government are giving free money to the voters per election.

yet..lots of sinaporean complaint that the $ is too little.

wa liao...suddenly someone give u free $ also want to complain..????

Yah, let you enjoy the once in a while "free $' then , you've face up to the never ending cycles to fee/fare increase that you have to tackle everyday, every month.

I scared everytime they give out $... coz they take back more $$$ after the election... (GST, transportation, electrical bills... etc always increases after that)

yup.. some of them worked in Woodlands and lived in JB City.

if it is really too little, why do 66.6% of voters accept the $ by voting in ***. they should reject it by voting non-***. then, five years later, the amount may be increased.

PR need to go NS?

yes..2nd generation PR need to go to NS.

Tell me this.....

1) The country do not treat PR like Citizen, why there is any obligation for PR to serve NS ?

2) Why government give PR status to skilled foreign worker...? Do government need them to protect country (so..need to serve NS)..or government need them as the human capital/skilled labour force ?

The answer is obvious here..thus PR is contributing to "national service".

3) Do u know that PR does not really mean Permanent Resident ?? Once our re-entry permit expired, u need to re-apply. And subject to approval.

For example, u have 5 year re-entry permit valid for 5 years. You work here for 3.5 years, then u get retrenched. and u could not get a job ..and u hang around in singapore/your country/ other country.....

On the 5th year, u go to renew the re-entry permit, that is verly likely that u will not have another re-entry permit.

At that time, although u are Singapore PR, u are coming in Singapore as Visiting Pass. valid 14 days.

To summarise, Singapore will kick u out and dump u away if you do not contribute yourself as a skilled labour force.

But when Singaporen become unemployed, you still have the right to live in this country.

8:1? How did your company manage to get those permits or passes? Even for EP, thought there's a quota too.

Simple.... I know of many companies that apply for PR status for their employees. Hence bypassing the rule of foreigner vs Singaporeans.

End of the day we should be "grateful" to our elite's kind and visionary foresight in employing more and more FTs. I am sure they being our elite from top schools have their reasons and we should not question them. .

...... But when Singaporen become unemployed, you still have the right to live in this country.

wah... do u know ? Singaporeans cannot stay jobless.. sure died ! in USA... jobless still have food donation centres to eat... and take money from some government places. Of cos, such has been abused by lazy people.

lived ? of cos can lived ? look at those ah peks... pulling old card boxes in hong lim park... sleeping in garden and bathe in public toilets.

for PRs, continual employment is a conditional for renewal of entry permit? i am not sure.

yes..2nd generation PR need to go to NS.

Overall singaporean is not hungry enough.

If you are a Singaporean and you earn an average monthly salary of $1050. Do you want to become a Singaporean? Take into account of paying for a HDB flat monthly, paying for daily expenses, paying children's education, paying for ................

How long do you think you can survive?

If you are a foreigner from other countries, it is a totally different thing. You can still make enough money here, and then go back to your own countries and live a relatively better live than your own country men who earn meagre salaries in their own countries.

I scared everytime they give out $... coz they take back more $$$ after the election... (GST, transportation, electrical bills... etc always increases after that)

then PR should even feel more scarry, right ? .. since they dun receive the $, yet the govi will take also take more $$$ from them after the election.

u take PR has a discount on GST, transport, electricall bills....etc ??

Yah, spot on
and that not only apply to M'sia PR, China and India PR as well.

Errr... even you vote for the "non-whites", the result will still be 66.6%.
Remember the "Cheng San" case when they count many times to get the "correct value"?

They split Cheng San GRC areas after that, easier to control.

the point is that PR donot get free $, yet they also suffer
never ending cycles to fee/fare increase that you have to tackle everyday, every month if they work here.

admit that, citizen do enjoy much more than PR.

According to my Indian National PR colleague, 2nd generation PR has obligation to do NS coz their parents are enjoying tax relief, CPF interests, education and medical subsidies...etc.

uhm, uhm?

Errr... even you vote for the "non-whites", the result will still be 66.6%.
Remember the "Cheng San" case when they count many times to get the "correct value"?

Let's say all employers/companies replaced all Singaporeans with foreigners, and their manpower costs drops by half or even 70%. So, they may make more $$$ according to their plan.

How are the Singaporeans going to feed themselves if they have no job? Who then are the customers going to pay/buy the companies products/services now. Prices of these goods/products/services must go down becos all these foreigners pay not as high cannot afford.

This is a vicous cycle. Lowering of costs is the LAST thing, not the FIRST thing coporate must do. To think garment uses this strategy is going to damage/kill everybody including their familes' lives. Again, typical Chinese selfish mentality, shun ren hai ji.
