D90 or D5100??

What do you guys meant by last longer?

Waiting for the price for D5100 now.....if it is around $1000 I am pretty sure D5100 is my choice!
D90 still going at $1600 but some of the used set looks very attractive (selling price, but worry abt high shutter count etc)

yup lots of D90 in BnS now so you can take your time n choose =x (provided you wan a D90) I'm sure you can find some with lower SC (3k to 5k), hmm but somehow it doesnt really matter much cos D90 got up to 100k sc =x, but if you are really buying a used D90 rem to double check the sc b4 buying =D, dont give 100% trust on what seller said =D, alright good luck to you =D,

r u sure d90 is going for 1600? people in the d90 user thread sayin tat it's going for close to 1k SGD with body only. so the kit wouldnt be tat much more?

btw, wad they meant by "last longer" is actually that u will be using it for a longer time than d5100 as a hobby, since d90 is somewhat a gimped-down version of semi-pro bodies like d300s. at least more shortcut buttons than d5100 to access the settings quicker + the ability to use screwdrive lenses.

OH YA, I asked about D90 body last wednesday was quoted 1159 for the body only =), If you want the kit lens you can try BnS? or you compare which is cheaper if you get kit or what lo =D,

I'd go with the D90, as I personally think a battery grip remains a deciding factor at least for me, I held and play with my colleague's D5000, it's light, but it is not as intuitive and convenient for me to change settings, which I think as your photographic journey advances you'd appreciate the conveniences.

1588? from? hmm D90 in bns is quite over priced to me =x. would rather spend more to get a new 1 haha, btw u can buy a used body? 900? i saw 850 b4 sc under 3k i guess u wan u can pm me for the seller nick, well im not sure if its sold anot haha..

1) better build body.
2) more advance features (if D5100 is still in the same field as D5000 than it should be offering less features) on D90.
3) AF screw motor so you can buy cheaper or older lens.
4) the top LCD screen is very useful and help save battery power.
5) option for original grip.

anyone can argue about the articulated LCD screen, but how come no one missed it on the more expensive models? go figure.

D90 or D5100?? but D90 is a 2 years old technology leh......

you cant compare them this way as they are from 2 different classes. D700 is an even older model than D90.

I'm not sure liveview is crucial as i tot most dslr users would use the viewfinder. In this case, the D90 is a pentaprism vs mirrors. I think supposedly brighter. I believe nikon feels the D90 is still superior is some ways which is why it is still available even when D7000 and D5100 are launched maybe? The way they are priced, nikon should have done market research that there are ready buyers for these cameras at these price range.

One point to ponder is that new 5100 will be so smart that you need little control to get properly exposed pictures..

i suggest u get a proper quote on the price of a brand new d90 from shops like john 3:16, tk foto, alan photo, slr rev, cathay photo and orient photo

Seriously, with both D90 and D7k in market now, buying a brand new D90 does not make any sense.... Better off buy a 2nd hand piece if it's a D90.

what attract me most for D5100 is the newer sensor (same as D7000), HD Movie, and most of all the PRICE!!!

D7000 is for sure out of my budget...
D90 depent how much it will go down......still a very good choice to go for D90 .....

If info so far is correct,
D5100 should be available in;
1) Body only
2) 18-55mm kit
3) 18-105mm kit

Yes, D90 has build in focusing motor.
