DX

D300
D300S
D400 = 2013
D400S = 2015

you may be right... :) .. Ive always thought nikon cocked up their numbering system, both in film days and digital ( pro cameras excluded ).

Aiya... The numbering system can always be tweaked. They can always add in new letters, jump around with the numbers, or use a totally new system.

Consider this road map:
D50
D40
D40x
D60
D3000
D3100
D3200

When there is a demand, there will be supply!

Nikon in the digital day, From now on has been fixed.

D3200 low entry level DX
D5100 more feature DX
D7000 -> mid DX (D7100?)
D300s -> D310/D301? High DX
D600 low entry FX
D700 mid stop
D800 high MP
D1 series should not be a problem.

More like all DX will have 4 digits from 3000 to 7000 (I'm expecting D300's replacement to be D9000 or something similar). Then any number smaller than 4 digits will be FX.

Good news is, like D4 n D800, can AF up to f/8!!!! That means with a TC III 2.0 u can turn AF-S 300/4 into a 600/8 n still able to Autofocus!

huh, dun understand this part.

u mean to say that once the lens setting is at f8, it is supposed to stop being able to AF?

Nope, it means u still can AF with f/8! Previous bodies before D4 n D800 will have issues with f/8 particularly low light situation.

Yes it should generally mean with TCs. Previously no one would consider extending 300/4 with a 2x. Now with D4, 800 n soon 600, it is a reality...
Yea u should be able to AF with f/8 but in low lights (which I forgot to mention earlier) it will start to hunt.

that sounds about right. never coupled lens with TC before, so i do not know the AF issue, if any.
