Hi clar1972, you can try searching for 2nd hand D40 from the Buy/Sell: Cameras section. I've seen quite a few used D40 on sale. Maybe you can get a good deal there. For the lense, it all depends on what you are going to shoot. I've been using my D40 with the kit lens and I've never been happier. But since I need to have a greater range for the type of photography I'm doing, I'm planning to purchase the 18-135mm lense. So it all depends on your need in the end. Hope this helps...

Hi everyone. I'm a newbie in DSLR and have been using point and shoot camera for couple of years already. But I've been tired of getting lousy photos in warm light indoor environment where image goes blur with slight movement in subject. I've been trying to get second hand Nikon D40 camera with good lens. My budget is around SGD650 - 900. Could anyone advice me what type of lens i should choose and where I should look for second hand Nikon D40 camera?

newbie here too... i find the kit lens covers 99% of what i need to shoot... ;p

maybe you can just start off with the kit lens and as you take more photos.. find out where your interests lies and the limitations of the kit lens w.r.t. them..

Did you mean that you are zooming the lens or focusing the lens?

Just a test... if you remove the lens from the body, is the zooming still stiff? I would guess the next option would be to bring the lens to Nikon Service Centre and tell them that the zooming is too stiff...

Any camera/photo-developing shops would carry them. Just tell them it's 2.5", and it costs about $10.
