I want to buy my 1st dslr camera.

well...i used to shoot film using yashica/contax, nikon, olympus. digital compacts using canon, olympus, fuji. dslrs using canon, nikon. i don't have any strong brand preferences, but am now shooting nikon becos i like the uber convenience of the 18-200vr lens.

I just bought my D40 earlier this week...having fun playing with the shutter speeds in the meantime.
Will post some pics soon
Alan Photo (Funan) quoted me $850 (exclude gst) so I bought from it's next door neighbour (Pixel) at $830 (before gst) which comes with 2GB card.
Last nite, my hubby and I tested out the camera and switched off all lights and just left my computer monitor on and we took a few shots of magazine on the floor. The 30secs shutter gave us a bright image!! We were very surprised! We even tried taking the same shot but WITHOUT the computer monitor light (complete darkness) and used 1min shutter and though image was dark but still visible and able to read the words on the cover of the magazine.
Very fun!! Am thinking of going dragging my hubby along (to help carry tripod) to take National day fireworks these coming weekends...

Anyway, I didn't take offence at it since it's a fact tat D40 is one of the cheapest DSLRs out there...

Wad's the stats (and price) for 18 - 200mm VR lens?
Our kit lens is 3.5F to 5.6F. 18-200mm VR lens is wad?
I think the 18-200mm VR lens is my ultimate goal...kinda broke now tat I just bought the D40...need to save up more to afford lens...
18-200 user here.
This lens has its own limits, choose lens by what you shoot, not by which lens you like.
