i'm very new to this photo taking but i realli have a strong passion but dun haf a group that i can share and learn.i currently dun have a camera so can i still join all of ur??i realli interested in this and i need some advice of wat kind of camera should i start with??i need lots of help...can anyone help???

You're welcome to join of course but you'll probably get more out of this workshop if you already have been taking pictures prior to attending, as sports photography is a specific kind of photography. But if you have an interest in that, then by all means.

Larry and myself will be involved in the coordination effort for this coming weekend's workshop. We had more or less rounded up the final details on the daily events, it will be posted once it is in place.

Payment of fee
In the meantime, we will have to start the collection for the workshop fee. The amount payable is S$75.00. There are currently two modes of payment, namely:
(1) during SEED on 28 Jan 2004 (Larry will be there to collect the fees) ;

Spectrum: No you are just in time, you can still enrol pending any withdrawal from the main list. Meanwhile, I will check with Jed to see if we can accomodate a few more participants.

For non-Nikon users, which lenses are we advised to bring?

Currently I have the following:

Canon EOS 300D
Canon EOS 888

Sigma 500mm f/7.2
Canon 75-300mm f/4-5.6
Tokina 100-300mm f/5.6-6.7 Macro
Tamron 28-200mm f/3.8-5.6
Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Canon EF 38-76mm f/4.5-5.6

Also, are we recommended to bring along tripod and remote shutter release?

Yaoxing,

I wrote somewhere above about general recommendations on what to bring. From reading your list (and it's quite a long list!) I'd bring the Sigma 500/7.2, the Canon 75-300, and the EF-S lens, with your 300D. Obviously if you want to bring more feel free, but those would be my choices, not necessarily in that order. If you only could take one lens, then I'd say take the 75-300.

yaoxing, personally i suggest you bring along as much of your equipment as you can, you'll never know what you'll want to shoot that day. but if you're overloaded, i'm not available to help i would seriously suggest spare batteries and compactflash for your 300D though. a tripod wouldn't be so necessary, but a monopod would be more portable.

Hello Sebastian,

Thanks for your questions.

As to location, the hockey is at Delta Sports Complex, the Canoe Polo is at Singapore Poly. Duration of the Hockey is 10am through to early afternoon, and 3pm through to the night. The Canoe Polo is 10am to 12:30pm. The Hockey on Sunday we will probably begin at 3pm after a talk and we will break off after about 6pm.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by a rush, but if you mean you are hoping to make Chingay then as mentioned, you are free to leave whenever you wish. In terms of transport rush, Nikon SG are providing a bus to transport the participants to the various venues so it shouldn't present a problem.
