Hello People,
Thank you for your interest so far. Here's more information that I can include:
[1] Important. This should have been in the original post but in my rush to get to Everton I missed it out. The workshop is limited to a maximum of 30 participants only. This is so that I can accord each participant due individual attention during the workshop.
[2] There is at present no requirement to fill out any forms, although we will need to take a deposit from participants at a later date, although obviously before the actual workshop.
[3] Yes you can use a consumer zoom lens. You might find yourself slightly hampered during the indoor sessions, but there are other things you can try. If you have a fast prime lens, even a 50mm, bring that along. But we have outdoor events too where you will be fine. Or of course you can also shoot with the loan equipment Nikon SG has kindly provided, but you will need to share the DSLRs and lenses with fellow participants.
[4] A note about equipment. As mentioned, this workshop is not restricted to Nikon users only. Likewise, you will not need to have a digital SLR; however I would at least recommend a film SLR. Compact cameras, whether film or digital, tend to be too slow and inflexible for sports photography. You will still be welcome to join if you wish, but you will have to share the available cameras with your fellow participants. We reserve the right to give priority to members with some form of SLR, if there are too many particpants without an SLR.
[5] Film shooters are welcome, but I might be unable to provide feedback of your work during the workshop unless you can process the prints for Sunday. You are welcome to use the loan equipment from Nikon SG again, and we are looking into making the pictures you've taken available to you. Digital users can use their own equipment, and use their flash cards in the Nikon cameras they try out.
[6] Lenses. You should try to bring a wide angle lens and a telephoto zoom or telephoto prime if you have them. A 80-200mm class lens would be good enough, anything longer would be a bonus. As above, Nikon will be providing several of the type of lenses that myself and my colleagues use to shoot sport professionally, so you will have the chance to try them as well.
Thanks again for your interest, and as before, feel free to ask any questions you may have!
