System Restore

if i wan to restore to example yesterday 0800hrs data, how do i do it ??

Go to Start > Help & Support > Undo changes to your computer with System Restore

any IT experts to advise ??

system restore only works when you create your check points diligently. and if i did not remb wroonlgy , it does not insure you against format.... because when you do format, the system assumes you know what you are doing... (remember the 2 dialogs that prompted you before you made the boo boo?)

when you format a hdd... chances are your data is gone... to recover it, its usually beyond an individual financial means.

you can go for those 'undelete' or file recovery softwares and give it a try.... dont get your hopes up too high.

That time my comp crashed and I forked out $500 for data recovery.

erm...... may i ask what sort of data recovery? and crash? hdd motor died?

Is that your OS drive (C:) or other drive?

If it is other drive, you can download the program from http://www.recovermyfiles.com/
Use it to check if the information is still in your hard disk.

What is the problem with the hard disk?

Still don't know what happened, comp just rebooted itself and everything was reverted back to as if it's new, including almost all data gone.

then it's not a crash. like dat next time can engage me.. i charge u cheaper :p
wahahaha.

a crash in my definition is that the harddisk kaput.... plug in cable, got no activity, or making really strange noise. normal 'crash'... is usually due to corruption or accidents like formatting....

wish you good luck....

i wasn't that lucky when i was playing with those secure delete applications last time. >.<

What is the problem with the hard disk?

this HD is connected as a slave to my tower ..

so one find day decided to stop working .... everytime i start the PC just before starting windows. It will prompt me to do a check disk or scan disk .. And then jam half way.

Even if i skip tat and proceed to windows. I just cant open the drive to retrieve my files. My pics are all there .. though just started out photography, some craps pics .. but still :bheart:
