    if camera settings are sRGB then there's a chance that the image got converted to ARGB when opened in PS. check out color settings policies (press ctrl+shift+k)

    you used Adobe RGB in your cameara settings. simplest solution: in photoshop, go to Edit/Convert to profile then choose destination space as sRGB. lazy solution to prevent this problem in the future: set your cameras to use sRGB. advance solution (takes time): read on color management...

    what about you post a sample image for us to see if it's really soft? maybe everything is fine - the softness is probably just your perception.

    i shot it with the 70-200mm/2.8 IS at 135mm - Canon rebel xt. i didn't intend to make a wide field-of-view shot. i was kinda just trying to overcome the resolution limit of the camera. the stitched image is 7558x7558=57.1Mpx, over 3 times bigger than the 1DsII's 16.7Mpx :D by the way the same...

    the photo consists of 16 images shot at iso400. clearly the condition wasn't best for IR as clouds were everywhre and leaves on the trees still hadn't grown yet. but at least the clouds made the shadows a lot less harsh. the stitched image has incredible details but unfortunately there's no way...
