Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LX100 & LEICA D-Lux Type 109

Dpreview explained it pretty well on crop
" There is a caveat here, which is that the LX100 isn't actually using the entire sensor, instead cropping it to allow for multi-aspect shooting (just as its predecessor did). Thus, the effective sensor area on the LX100 is really 1.5X larger than 1" and 4.3X the size of 1/1.7". In our experience, the added creative encouragement offered by the multi-aspect approach, combined with a conveniently-placed aspect ratio switch is more valuable than the extra couple of megapixels and larger lens that a full-sensor design would require."

The 4K video sample quality is outrageously good for a camera this compact...make sure you watch it full screen

And it will be interesting to see how this changes the way people create stills vs motion - 4k stills

Yes, the outstanding video quality and features make this little beast a "must buy" for me. Now I only need 1 camera.

Hmm , overall to me it's all an interesting concept until I try it for myself :) if anything this will serve as a good backup camera to my EM1 that's all.

wah nice.. jialat.. X100T or this? :bsmilie:

Lol , I knew this question would pop up sooner or later.

Somehow my gut feeling tells me Leica is gonna rebrand this LX100 and sell it as the DLux 100 with Leica tweaked JPEG colors.

Damn ... Just called Leica and preordered Liao. SGD1700 , 3 years international warranty and coming in next month.

1.7k... Though the Lumix version is listed at $899, I guess the specs are really impressive and might be well-worth for a lot of people.

wow...tot it is 1199 for the leica version on BHphoto. translate to 1700 local prices. tempting hehe...

If u shoot JPEG , it translates to Leica tweaked colors which to me is worth the difference :) Similar to the differences between the Dlux6 and the LX7 back then, thankfully you don't end up just paying more for a red dot.

A 3yr international warranty plus Lightroom makes the deal more value for money too lol.
