@GReddy: No what i mean is i'm moving to a Sirui G20 ballhead, on which I can no longer use my black rapid strap on. Just asking how the camdapter strap works as there arent many video reviews of it, or at least not that I can find.

Classic. You are willing to spend thousands on your camera but balk at the price of a carrying system that helps ease the weight of a camera of your neck/hands?

Haha, because spend too much money on camera and lens that's why no money to buy expensive strap.

I know the camdapter is cheaper than black rapid. It's value for money. Just that I find that $120 for a strap is still quite expensive. Currently, I find that the weight of camera in my neck and hands is manageable. Probably 10 years down the road, I'll look at something like this to ease the load, and when I'm more financially capable of doing that.

Have to second and thrid Optech as a few have before meself. It takes a huge amt of weight of th neck, although it does make one look like a tourist, but I can live with that.

A good tripod plate will cost you around $60 already. A good hand strap (real leather one) will cost you more than $35 already. that is already $95. so you are actually getting the sling strap for $25... cheaper than a optech strap..

Sometimes it is better to look at value rather than price.

Yup I get what you mean. I've to agree that it's more value for money. But currently I don't use a hand strap or a tripod plate... If I were to use those stuff, definitely will consider getting it

Actually a strap is often an oversight and you should, if you can afford it, get one that helps spread the weight. The reason being that the aches that come after sometimes is built up over long periods and won't be apparent till later.

Of course if you don't intend to shoot often then it's ok to just use the default strap. Just make sure you remove it each time you are done and air it cos the perspiration will cause the strap to be damp, not exactly conducive to storing with camera gear.

The optech straps are great in that they allow you to unclip the neoprene section to keep separately instead of having to undo the whole strap. Do consider them. They aren't very expensive.

For side sling straps like the blackrapid, can consider the capa q/quick straps also. I got it cheap at $25, from SGCameraStore during their sale. Really worth it to take the load off the neck. And the price doesn't really hurt.

Haha, I actually have them. But didn't dare to use it as I scare that the clip will somehow unclip itself and the whole camera will drop on the floor...

Actually your weakest link isn't the plastic quick release buckles but the strap lugs that are attached to your camera body.

I had an optech clip disengage before. Never say never. Best is to use failsafe velcro over the clips.

Hmmmm although it hasn't happened to me I think I shall take your advice and use some fail safe velcro on my release clips. Now my optech padded section is in retirement while I use the loop straps as a failsafe for my Custom SLR strap

What I like best is able to un-clip it and hook the cam on the tripod, so the long strap would not gets in the way while changing direction of the cam on tripod.

Like I said, it happened to me and one of my older cameras (luckily) crashed to the concrete. And the clips were engaged properly. sometimes you move things around and can accidentally push one of the catches and the whole thing will pop out. Now I have my velcro failsafe on 100%.

Never say never. Better to be safe than sorry. And the failsafe only cost me $1.50 from the 2 dollar store.

It is just some Velcro cable ties which I cut down to size.
