Which one I should I go 550D or 60D?

i felt lucky and happy with my canon 550D.
used to have the rush of shooting when i got hold of my canon 550D until when i realized, save shutter life, dont anyhow snap.

and nowadays what i do is, spot for nice angles, nice locations, then fire. my 550D serves me well and the picture quality is good. it's all in the lens. and i felt that there are lots of rooms for me to improve and xplore on this dslr.

Then Ok, I sell you mine alpha A300 with kit lens 18-70mm @$350:)

Thanks bro..

but I only want a canon.. because I will stick to that camera and want to start my life of photography :D

There is no need to "save" shutter life, you would have probably changed/upgraded to another body before the shutter dies on you. And it is relatively inexpensive to get it changed at CSC too.

That said, there is also no need to be on burst mode either. Think before you shoot

Hi TS, welcome to Clubsnap :)

I would recommend the 550D as your first camera. It is lightweight and easy to carry around, not to mention cheaper than the 60D too. But do go to Canon showroom at Vivocity to have a look and feel of both models.

As for lens, do consider the 18-55mm kit lens which is a very good lens for its price. Pair it together with a 50mm f1.8 for portraits and you will be well equipped.

You should also factor in other accessories which you might need, e.g. a good tripod (you mentioned you like landscape), shutter remote, extra SD cards, dry cabinet, cleaning kit, etc. Have fun!

Save shutter life? Might as well don't buy a camera. :bsmilie:

I guess i have to disagree with the saving shutter life too cause i feel that it is through taking alot of pictures before you become better and better in photography and since the 550D is entry level, by the time you really managed to kill the shutter life you be close to changing to a better body anyway. :)

Anyway TS, just go to the showroom have afeel of both, decide on one, buy it (@ recommended neighborhood store of course) and snap away! cheers!

Ok this is a blind advice I heard somewhere .... and like 10000 other advises here, you gotta decide who is right:

WHEN IN DOUBT, BUY THE LATEST AND MOST EXPENSIVE THAT YOUR $$$ CAN AFFORD.

Applause pls. :)

I love this.

Not being sarcastic. But this is wat I adopt when I can't decide on what to buy. Rather underutilized than regret for not getting a better one.

Cheers.

unfortunately, not many people have a clear concept of affordability.

they will read this, and think, my monthly salary is $4K. i can afford d3! BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB!

I think I will sell everything I own... sleep on the streets.. maybe then I can afford a D3s and a Sigma 200-500/2.8 :what:

teaching the concept of 'affordability' is beyond the realm of Clubsnap already... that one should be from the School of Hard Knocks? :)

Thanks to you all for your advise...

Today I will go vivo show and test my own personal feelings...

I think I still got time to choose between these two..

In nov, there is a IT show at Expo ( SITEX ). So, I will buy camera from that IT show.

:):):)

The last place that you will want to buy your camera from would be IT show...

good luck! But why wait till Nov to get a camera if say... you've made up your mind by Oct?
as yc2005 said, IT Show is definitely not the best place to buy a camera... :)

eh.. correct me if i am wrong..

i would prefer you to get the 550D. cheaper. cos the remaining cash you can spend on a dry-cabi and other accessories. external flash is a must to have if you shoot indoor. if you getting 60D, less cash left to spend.

again it's rebelriot here.

actually i think that it's pretty much up to you. if im earning $10k per month, i dont think i willl scratch my head, be bothered to read reviews and do "homework". i will spend on the latest model because everything that comes later will definitely have a newer technology, a better feature (company does read feedback), better RND product, something that gives me the bragging rights.

however back to earth, im just a student. i dont really have the spending power to buy those latest IN things. i have to save and skimp so that i can make do with living and buy something that i wanted to.

hence i opted for the canon 550D. still using the kit lens (18-55mm) and am pretty appreciative of the image that the lens can produce. thinking of trying something much more fun - i fork some money on a 50mm f1.8 lens to play around for the bokeh effect and thats all.

no $ = no L lens.
no$ = try to get the best from what i can afford
no $ = spend more time comparing before paying

2 cents worth of opinion
